I have a problem and need some advice.
I have a disability policy and they are wanting me to take a settlement for my disability. It would pay me out for 12 months and they would be done. Social security said after 12 months they would pick up the total amount.
My question do I settle and let them off the hook? Or do I continue to file appeals when they keep denying my benefits. I end up getting approved but they put me thru a review every 6 months.
Can anyone give me advice?
Thanks harlin
The insurance company is trying to cut their losses. The deal is not in your favor.
ugh... I don't think I like it... can you talk with an atty?
An attorney may be appropriate at this time.
No, no, no do not let them finish raping you! Is it Unum by any chance? You probably have a case for bad faith lawsuit, and I would strongly suggest seeing an attorney. There should be no fee for an initial consultation. I would also contact your elected officials about the insurance company's conduct, and your state Insurance Commissioner. And the insurance company has zero control over Social Security; if you take the payout, and SS changes their mind, you are really in big trouble. You should get both the SS and the disability payment.
