Title: Feeling Cruddy
Post by: Iwantmylifeback on August 29, 2012, 04:00:42 PM
I had a spinal cord stimulator removed on Monday.  I am

really still feeling beatup.  The clinic I go to is usually a

great place to be.  This time I am having so much neck and

shoulder pain on my left side.  I am not sure if its from SjS,

from laying on my sides because I have two large incisions

on my back one at the bra line that runs vertical  for 5

inches and one on my left hip that runs horizontal for 5

inches so I cant lean back on it.  I have bruises on my left

upper arm since surgery.  They look like a handprint.  I am

not sure if I was hurt while I was out or what..  I have slept

most of the day off and on.  Does anyone else feel this

whipped after surgery?  I was out less than an hour.

Anyone else have HT?  I am starting to wonder if that is part

of what is going on.  My muscles are so weak, over my head

work really hurts, I have gained weight and eat nearly

nothing.  My neck and shoulders hurt so much over the last

couple of months.  My leg muscles are also very weak.  This

is just so "not" me.  I have always  been very busy, hyper
actually.  Worked 12 hours at a time in an ER and still kept

going.. I do not work now because of Deginerative disk

disease and the lack of immune response .  My white count

stays under 3.

I am Celexa for low bloodpressure, Synthroid, CoQ10and

tumeric just started, fishoil, K,D3 and B12,  Iron for anemia,

Flexeril for muscles spasms in my back, Percoset for leg

back and foot pain. (8 back surgeries, in pain always)  I

have issues form alot of meds and cannot take the normal

things like nuerontin, lyrica and that bunch..Allergic to them.

I wonder if I am in a flare of if something else is going on.

The doc will just say its SjS.  Seems to be his explanation

for everyting.  I am wondering if Hoshimotos??  or another

AI has kicked in.

I'm sorry, I'm trying to read this, but my eyes are going blurry and jiggly. Will you please space out your sentences more? Like adding a hard return between more of them so it's not a big block of text?

Sorry.

Sorry. It did, I hope it didn't bother you. I just meant I needed more breaks, like 2-3 sentece paragraphs. It's windy here today and my eyes are screaming.

To get back to your issues...The hand print thing - it's probably from them moving you when you were under, it may be that you are bruising easier due to your other issues, or it just happened when they moved you, he could have been squeezing you too hard based on his position relative to the bed when you were moved.

Usaully, post surgeries are hard for most people, but even worse for people with AI issues.

The fatigue could be part of that, AND the fact that your body is trying to heal - which has always made me tired. It's your bodies way of enabling efficient use of energy to protect itself. Rest means your body is able to focus on healing. Which could also be exacerbated by your anemia.

Sounds like you are recovering from and "injury" (surgery), sick and sore from inflamation, anemic, and suffering from pinched nerves from your disk issues.

My sister also has a very sick back and she can't do a thing over her head. If she tries, her arms turn to lead and trigger neuropathy in her hands and sharp pains up from her wrists, thru her elbows and up her shoulder. And I'm sure, based on your experiences thus far, you know about that stuff. It's just a sick back jacking with your nerves.

But in short, yes, surgery can trigger a flare. So it's hard to tell.

In my experience surgery hurts! Rest up and heal. I sincerely hope you feel better soon. You are going through a lot.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I agree with Scottietottie..I have only had out patient surgeries.. Even the carpal tunnel surgery was awful for me.. Anesthesia is always awful for me. I take a lot longer than people I know to wake up and move.. Im sorry you are having to go through this.. I hope you get recovered soon.

Wow....this explains why my 3 c-sections were so awful to recover from.  The more I read here on this forum, the more everything about me in the last 7 years makes so much more sense.  I never understood why every other woman I knew could move around so much better after their c-sections.

So sorry you are going through this - I am praying for your healing and comfort.  My doc told me that when your body is inflammed, you can't lose weight.  Hopefully the inflammation will calm down soon as you heal.
