One type is similar to a food allergy, the other type more resembles Celiac Disease.

Very interesting, thank you for posting this. Going off gluten and basically going grain free has helped my energy level so much. It took about 6 months for me to notice, but it has helped.

I used to have horrible belly ache/IBS symptoms. By chance, I went on  very low carb diet last autumn, cutting out grains and I've not only lost 16 pounds, but my belly doesn't ache any more.
Interestingly, when I had allergy testing for wheat etc, the tests came back clear.

That's weird in an interesting way!

My neurologist just ran some tests to see if I am a true celiac. I need to know. I know for sure that I am allergic or sensitive to gluten and to wheat.

I've been gluten free for 6 yrs.

If a biopsy is done of the colon after being on a gluten free diet there results will not be accurate.

It is best to have a biopsy done before starting the gluten free diet. When you have celiac disease and are on the diet the small intestine heals and there is often no damaged tissue in the small intestine that proves the celiac.Irish
