Well hi there Angie! been wondering where you've been.

I have hip pain, but it doesn't sound the same as yours - wish I could offer something. try Alieve before bed, see if that helps.

Sorry you're feelin' bad - hope it gets better for you.

take care.

My nurse practitioner suggested 2 aleve a time because of my history with AI diseases. While I try not to take this there are some days that it is required.

Because you said it felt "electric" it sounds to me like a neurological problem.

A lot of us have that. You will want to make sure your doc knows about it and ask for a referral to a neurologist.

Mine spread very quickly and is not reversible.

Check out "peripheral neuropathy" online and see if it sounds the same.

Sometimes we can have some pressure on the sciatic nerve that will cause pain from the hip to the heel or foot. It is bloody miserable and laying on your side to sleep is almost impossible. I have had this many times and it sort of has to run its course---at least for me.

I know that I have it--suffer with it---it goes away until it comes the next time. I can never really blame any one thing for the issue. I have used a heating pad on my hip for the pain. I feel the pain the worst in my back where the nerve seems to come from the spinal cord and then on the side of my hip. Can't hardly get out of bed in the morning sometimes.

Like Joee says, Aleve does help some. I gave up on going to the doc a long time ago with mine as I am on prednisone anyway and have also learned that sleeping in a recliner during this time takes the pressure off and relieve some of the pain. Unfortunately, there are some things in life we have to sort of grit our teeth and muddle through and for me this is one issue.

We are all different though and you may have something that will be helped by a med. If it doesn't leave then I would guess it is time to see the doc. Good luck. Irish

I've had "electricity" in my right leg for years.  Not every night, just bouts of a few days usually.  I think it's a CNS SJS symptom.  I use trazodone and one klonopin (1 mg) for sleep and it helps.  Sometimes I just go crazy and get up and walk around and swear.  Whatever works!  Good luck, I know what you're going through.

I feel for you! I have moderate osteoarthritis in my left knee but I also just started getting sciatic pain down my left leg. Rheumy referred me to a spine specialist. MRI from two years ago shows nothing so he ordered another.  I'm waiting to hear. I'm on my 3rd rheumatologist after being misdiagnosed twice but my current one thinks I just have primary sjogren's.

I can't sleep because pain kicks in when I try to lay down. Sitting is hard, too, but at least it's my left leg, so I can still drive. Rheumy prescribed lycodaine patches but otherwise I alternate between tramadol or hydrocodone when I know I don't need to drive anywhere.

I don't know what I'd do without my chiropractor.

yup, have it too.  Especially if I pretend I'm "normal" for the day and don't rest enough!! Aleve actually helps a lot.  I didn't think it would, but it does.  That product was just approved over-the-counter here in Nova Scotia.  I find massage helps too.  Hmmmm...I'll try and remember what else I do for that when it is really bad.

I have degenerative disk disease, heartened disk, fusions..blablabla..and SjS.  I do not have a moment ever that I do not have leg and foot electric feeling since the fusion and back and leg pain all of the time as well.  I have been seeing a doc in the pain clinic since he was called in after the fusion!  This has now been 3 years. I have had injections from mid back to a caudal (tailbone infusion) and tried a spinal cord stimulator for 2 years.  It was taken out a week ago.  The doc feels that my SjS body is attacking it as well and it just was not a good fit for me.  It at times caused more pain than it relieved.  Now just trying to heal the incisions.  He only just this last month started me on Aleve one am one pm.  I am I think feeling a bit of relief from them, I am tired of taking percocet and am not needing as much with the Aleve.  I was told that this is a med that needs to build up in your system and to take it every day like a supplement.  So I have followed his advice and am better for it.   The electrical impulses however, never ever go away!  I too try to play it normal many times, too and pay for it!  I just pick my battles these days!
