Yesterday my best friend called me and told me about a BIG fight her and her husband of 8 years are having. Don't know how that will work out for them but it opened my eyes even more.
This journey with SJS has caused me to keep adjusting my new reality.
Some days are tougher than others. In this slowing down I now take the time to appreciate the little things...the wind, the trees, a sip of hot coffee...watching my chihuahuas waddle through the kitchen. : ) I also notice more often when people are kind to each other.
I'm not so self-involved trying to conquer the world.
When you are forced to grind to a screeching halt sometimes in that stillness you can become closer to God and all the blessings that you do have are more visible.
I'm just saying... : )
I concur. There's so much we miss with the business of living the "normal" life of work, house, feedings of the family, yard...etc.
sitting, breathing, and enjoying is a much needed requirement for peace.
I'm glad you have found that.
And I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope things work out for them.
Have you had to shovel snow for the dogs? We have. Give yours a tummy rub for me!

AMEN! rudytudy!
At times I've asked God why now this?? Being that it has slowed me down and changed my perspective, my relationships, my outlook, etc, etc. I now understand.
Rudytudy,
I feel the same way. I don't obscess about trivial things anymore and after having Sjogrens and cancer, I am grateful for each day. So many things just are not important.
I'm just saying. :)

You said it rudy. It is hard to watch the "normal"people muddle through life trying to make money and get all the material possessions. They just don't know that they have their priorities all wrong. The only way they will find out is to have some traumatic event or health event change the course of their life.
I just saw an Elton John interview this week where he said that when he was 43 years old he was exposed to some traumatic event that happened to someone he knew. It woke him up and he saw that his life was nothing but a waste. He didn't want to go down the same road the rest of his life.
He got himself into treatment and quit the alcohol and drugs and has been living his life in a more productive manner. He gives to others now and says that life is much more meaningful. Of course, we can all add that is would be much easier to live this way if we had his money---and you are probably right. However, money doesn't buy health or happiness.
Happiness is what is going on in our life as we lollygag on through doing the best we can and loving others while we are doing it. Irish
well said Irish!!! :)
yup, i had dinner last night with two fabulous friends, thats the sort of thing I was always too busy for in my "previous life".
i totally agree with things you all have said and making time for what counts is as good as medicine
