Title: Arava and Tinnitus
Post by: DebbiK on June 06, 2012, 01:46:29 PM
Hi everyone,

My rheumy put me on Arava after I couldn't deal with the fatigue from methotrexate. Over the past few weeks I have developed tinnitus in one ear. I'm not sure if this is a side effect or what. Can anyone tell me if they have ever had this problem before?

I did a search on "Arava Side Effects" There was more there than I wanted to copy. You may wish to do a similar search.

Years ago, the initial sign that I might have an auI was originally diagnosed with something calledtoimmune issue was Tinnitis in my right ear.  5 years later, it is an ongoing nightmare, it really is.  i, also, have something called "red ear syndrome."  Each afternoon I get a blushing and painful feeling in the right ear. My family use to tease me about it but now understand how bad it is.  Prior to being diagnosed with SJS I was originally diagnosed with something called AIED or Autoimmune inner ear disorder."

I wish you good luck and very much hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks for the information I will keep touch with my rheumy. I've been off the Arava a week to see if it gets better. So far it has lightened up but not gone away.

If it has improved I would stay off it. It can take time for the tinnitus to go away. Sharon

rcristal that is so crazy to me I went to the ENT for years with severe rt ear pain and migraines before being diagnosed with RA and SJS. Since taking Arava those symptoms have fully resolved.
