Title: Plaquenil and Dizziness?
Post by: Sadie963 on May 26, 2012, 05:33:48 PM
Hi Everyone!

I have been taking generic Plaquenil (200mg 2x/day am & pm) for about a year and a half. Lately I noticed I would get sidetracked and forget to take my evening pill.

So I decided to taking the 400mg at one time in the morning. I know this was a dumb thing to do because I did not feel good after a week of doing it this way.

I'm now back to my 200mg 2x/day but I am experiencing some dizziness and lightheadedness and sometimes I have to lie down for a bit.

Has anyone else experienced dizziness or lightheadedness with taking Plaquenil? Is this temporary side effect?

Note: A while back, I had to stop my Plaquenil dose for about a week and I had no symptoms or issues with it at all when I had to re-start taking it again.

During my first week taking generic plaquenil I started to get dizzy and and light headed.  It lasted about 3-4 weeks before it went away.  I still get dizzy sometimes, but not like I use to.

I get dizzy and light headed frequently but don't think it is related to my medications, but either SjS or lupus. If the dizziness doesn't pass in a few days, you might want to call your doctor and let them know about it (not that they've ever been able to do much about mine!)

Don't have any experience with Plaquenil and dizziness....probably b/c I split mine am and pm

But in response to sometimes forgeting to take your evening dose...

I use a 7 day pill box. Yes, I admit I do...just like the one my grandma used. I find it helps me remember to take all my meds. If you take alot of vitamins, minerls,etc...plus meds..buy the biggest pill container you can find.

hope you find the reason for the dizziness and recover from it.
