Title: Not enough spoons=feeling awful again
Post by: WildThing on May 26, 2012, 11:42:16 AM
Had  long day yesterday and did quite a lot, was up early having not slept well the previous night, went to doctors, went to library, went looking for bigger bras, went food shopping now today I am paying for it again.  Feel drained ad awful.  Am getting concerned now about how this lack of spoons will effect me when I go away for a week. :(

On the plus side at least you can see the pattern of doing too much and paying for it later. I have to really budget my time and spoons. Still sometimes I over do it too.

I try planning ahead when I go away. Scheduled time for napping and rest. Prioritize the things I really want to do with the limited energy I have. And the most important thing is to manage my disappointment that I cant do what I want to do and what I was able to do in the past.

I would send you more spoons if I could.

Travel safe.   Pie

WildThing...I am with you. I visited my Mom, slept over and we went out shopping a bit.

.....but before we went.....Mom said I have some B-r-a-s ( I thought 3? 4?.....I refused to try anymore on after 4!!!!....lol My Mom "done did me in"), that do not fit me.
Well, Mom is happy my rib cage area is small 33" but the cup size is "D"...so she has some sewing to do. And we had a great time!

But, I drove home last night and today I had to take some extra preventative meds and even the IBS is acting up.

So my dear WildThing....we need to avoid the "bra" trigger... :)

Maybe we can hike the "girls" up with one of those exercise bands????

Oh my!  I think I am actually learning to use my "spoons " more effectively, not to push myself too hard, to allow myself to rest in between activities.

I am in dire need of some new bras, but I keep putting off the errand.  Takes way too much energy.  Can't spend spoons on underwear shopping when I have a garden to tend. The girls will just have to free-range a while longer!

I love to go "free range" but it scares the family. lol

Now when I find a bra I like I buy 3!

As for spoons there is never enough these days. But for me I really have to stop comparing the spoons I have now to all the ones I had in the past. Thinking about it makes it worse.

Why is it whenever I start a thread these days the converstion drifts on to boobs?  I'm going to have to have a moan about bra hunting on the social board.  No sleep again tonight.  Mind you I haven't lept on my bed for a year and a half been sleepig on my sofa.  EVERYTHING FEELS LIKE A CHORE.  Even going to bed and getting in the shower.

I know how you feel (not about needing larger bras, unfortunately, but not enough spoons  ;D) I never have enough and I'm always paying for it. We're having a Memorial Day barbecue this weekend with quite a few friends over and I know I'll be paying for it tomorrow...

WildThing .....you mentioned in an other thread that it is hot and humid in UK....UGGG!!!

For myself, once the temp goes over 80 Fahrenheit + the humidity = trigger; I become a wet nauseous  rag... :(  ..... up to 72 degrees is actually optimum.

I set a window fan on high before I go to bed and then adjust when I go to bed. It has to be be blowing on my body.
(One whole year, like you, I slept on the couch/sofa with my left arm and left legs kind of up over the back ....lol....probably numbed them so they didn't hurt so badly and I could fall asleep and go to work in the AM....before Dx).

Even in the winter I want a fan blowing on me to get to sleep ( the humming sound is soothing).

Melatonin really helps.

Excited for you about your trip to shore... :)

Been sleeping on and off all day again today.  Also stomach pains.  Really feel beat up.  seeing rheumatologist on Thursday so hopefully will get some underdstanding there.  I think it's a good idea to get a fan.  Don't think I'll be able to slep otherwise.  To nervous to sleep with window open on my own here.

Wild thing....so sorry you are feeling bad.  I think half of our energy has to go to carrying around these D size puppies, don't you?  So don't blame it all on SJS or using too many spoons.......too bad they didn't make spoons to prop these puppies up!

It cracks me up how the conversation always goes to the "dogs" and in my language that means our huge puppies!!!!!

Ya know for some of us we have "teaspoon" days.....  :) :)

In the heat I sometimes will even spray water on my body... the evaporation in front of the fan feels good.
You can dampen a handkerchief and put in on your neck, too.
Lightly splash your face and do not dry....I do the same to my arms.

.....yadda, yadda, yadda....sip a sports drink with ice.

OKKKKKKK.....douse the "girls with baby powder sans bra "over the shoulder boulder holder"....lol

Last rinse in a shower? put some baking soda in your hand and rub on head and skin.....then rinse in tepid turning to  cool water..leave body a bit moist to air dry.....lovely.

Hope you get some sleep

Cannot claim to have D's; my sisters got the breast genes. But I can remember as a young kid wondering why the much elder females' bosoms hung to their waists.  I was mortified at the thought that would ever happen to me.

I want the anti-gravity bra.  Perhaps it will be filled with helium?  I will  buy it in 3's!   --if I have enough spoons to go shopping.

Wildthing, I hope the rheumy offers help.  So often, I cannot figure out what triggers my fatigue.  I want it to make sense, but sometimes it just doesn't.

best wellness,
beth

Dear Wildthing. Im so sorry your not getting rest and are having such a rough time. Why do you not sleep in your bed? Is it uncomfortable. I apologize if I missed the answer in another thread. I love my bed. I got a great mattress, got the extra padding thing..But I too have trouble sleeping anyway. I hope you get some relief and rest soon.

Hi WildThing,

Sorry to hear about your not feeling well or being able to sleep.  The heat and humidity can do a number on me too.

I use a short medium sized fan (very quiet) that moves back and forth. I also set its fan height at just above my mattress level, keep the speed on low and place it 3-6ft from my bed. This way I have a mild breeze keeping me cool but it does not irritate my skin and feel too harsh.

Years ago my grandmother visited during a heatwave and my mother was impressed that my grandmother actually used it.
She hates fans of any kind (breeze, noise, too cold) but she liked this one and was able sleep comfortably. It really made my day.

Well slept a little better last night with the window open, still tired today but managing to get a few things done.  I think I might have an electric fan hidden away somewhere I'm not sure.  I don't sleep in my bed because I have OCD and it's a long sotry but it involves a fear of contamination.

WILDTHING!!!! I think I love you!!! Okay, it's a song... anyway, I have a few extra spoons for you to use... be smart, one for a small walk in a cool place, one to watch the birds and their antics at a feeder and one to take a cooling shower so you can rest! There are 3 extras to do as you please with! HUGS!

Yeah  :D
7 hours of sleep...
Can you get Melatonin in the UK for REM sleep....so it is restorative sleep. Do a search to learn the difference between crash and burn and restorative.  I am thinking...hoping near the ocean you will get restorative sleep.
