I'm going to the Philadelphia Walkabout tomorrow.
There is a "Stump The Doctor" time.
Does anyone have a question that you would like to me ask?
How fun! I wish I could hand you my chart! I am sure someone has a great question or 2 or 3 or 100!
This is for Sjogren's--it's the annual event /fund raiser for the Tri-state area (PA, NJ, Delaware) There will be a tent with several vendors of products specifically for Sjogren's folks.
Dr. Mike of Fox 29 TV show will be there as well as Dr. Vivino and i believe Steven Taylor will also be there. The questions are for these 2 doctors.
Then we take a walk around the Zoo . Along the way there will be posters with Q And A about Sjogren's.
Sounds like fun!
Philadelphia has the best zoo. The last time I was there, my oldest was about 6. We went into the lion building, where the lions can come inside and eat. Double bars separate the lions from the crowd, and there's a huge barrier to keep you away from the edge of the bars.
We were in there, and the lion came in, padded around a little, then saw my son. He stopped in his tracks and stared at Adam for a good 10 seconds. It was pretty cool, and Adam, who is a bigtime cat person, was all excited, "Mom, he's looking at me!" Then the lion let out this full-blown ROAR. If you've ever been around that, you know how it is. It can be heard for MILES, and you feel the vibration rumble right through your body, as if a train was passing close by. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, because the whole time, he's looking at my boy, and I'm wondering what on earth made my son stand out of the crowd...I mean, doesn't this lion see hundreds of kids every day?
Adam was enchanted, of course: "He ROARED at me, he was CALLING me, Mom!" Yeah, calling you for dinner...and to this day, Adam is partial to the big cats, especially tigers. His black belt in TaeKwondo is "tiger clan," and he has a tribal tiger face tattooed on his arm ( which is so cool looking, I 'd have gotten it myself if they could have made it about the size of a quarter...)
How was the Walkabout today? Hopefully, you had beautiful weather there like we have here today in Central IL. 8)
Bucky
It was overcast and a little cool. There were over 300 people there for the Walkabout and over $550,000 was raised for research and education!!!
Dr. Mike from FOX 29 news channel asked s general questions about Sjogren's. Those giving the correct answer got a prize. I raised my hand on "What percent of people with Sjogren's are women?" Got to go up on stage with Dr. Mike and received a DVD on the Overview of Sjogrens given at the 2011 National Patients Conference in Virginia. Kinda cool getting to shake hands with a local celebrity.
No one stumped the 4 doctors.
The zoo was great! We spent about 4 hours wandering around.
