Hello all.
Tonight there is going to be a show/documentary on the Titanic. As you may have well heard it went down at around 2:30am on April 15th. It has been 100 years ago today.
I will watch it b/c I love anything in that time period. I loved their hairstyles, womens clothes and mens, their homes, their style and coutesy to each other. When you gave your word it meant something, you walked home in the dark and actually made it home alive and in one piece. Everyone watched out for each other.
I am an old soul and feel I should of been born anywhere in the time frame of 1880 to 1920's.
I realize that if I had, I would really be hurting with myy SJS and Ra (thyroid ). But exciting things began in that time frame, ..electricity, phones, indoor plumbing.
Oh well. I watch these type shows and can see myself living in that period..

Well, you might not have lived long enough to develop AI disease considering the average lifespan back then! Best of both worlds?
I like that age in time also, but I do not read or watch anything about the Titanic as for some reason it just doesn't interest me at all. I know not why.
Now, I have an 8 year old grandson who reads at about the 4th grade level and he brings home from the library every book that he can find. He has also watched the movie "Titanic" from start to finish 3 times. I have never watched it.
And yes, if you lived in those days you would not have lived long enough to get sjogrens or if you did you probably would have died from stepping on a nail long before you would have died from the sjogrens. So much for the good old days.
I like to read some of the old books though. Any readers of the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace? I live down in the same area that these books take place in Minnesota. Deep Valley is set in the Minnesota River town of Mankato. There is a house in Mankato called the Betsy Tacy house that is in the same area as the big hill if I remember correctly. I have always been going to take my grandaughter there some time but haven't done it yet.
They had quit publishing this series of books and had so many complaints that they are now going to publish some of the first books of the series. I hope that they publish all of them. I still read them at times when they are in the library. Irish ;D
Thank you Irish for being another person who truly couldn't care less about the Titanic and have never watched the whole of the movie either despite the amazing number of times it is on TV. I would have liked to live in the 1920's because I abosuletly love the clothes and the fact that women were getting more freedom.
I think the movie was great and I'm not much of a movie-goer. We have a big Titanic museum here. They had a big symphony perform last Saturday, the whole nine yards. I couldn't go, however.
My husband proposed to me after we seen the titanic movie (updated one). I won't go into details, but it was very romantic. ;D
