Title: Update on IPL laser treatment for my rosacea
Post by: Jellyb on April 13, 2012, 11:39:11 AM
Hello!
So I had the IPL laser treatment for my rosacea on wednesday. Now first off they said the procedure would feel a little "snappy". Ummm snappy? Not the word I would use to describe the level of discomfort. More like electrical shocks. Kind of like being caught in a bug zapper over and over and over.

I took the doses of tylenol they told me to take prior. before the tech got started she handed me a couple of squeezy balls to hold on to. She should have given me a shot of bourbon and a leather strap to bite down on:-)). So yes, it was kind of "snappy"

Anyway, I looked sunburned for the first couple of hours and I iced quite a bit. Yesterday I was a tiny bit puffy, but not bad. Today The brown spots are starting to flake off and I for sure see a huge improvement in the redness! I am a fan of this procedure. I am going back in four weeks for a touch up on any blood vessels that might still be there. And was told I will probably need another touch up in a year or so.

I highly reccomend it:-)

I'm glad it went so well for you. Yes, it was indeed very painful for me too. You must feel great seeing the difference. I wonder if having music to listen to would help make it less painful?

In my case the broken blood vessels/redness kept reappearing even after several treatments - I hope yours don't return.

At least you'll know to ask about the bourbon and leather strap next time! I predict that you'll be very happy with the results. However, wear sunscreen and hats to slow their reappearance.

Congratulations! Sharon

OUCH!

I think I will stick with my pinpoint cautery to my blood vessels....and that is a little ouchy in itself.

I did have a chemical peel (called a TCA) and it was like someone put gasoline on my face and lit it. I was all over that table  wiggling around, kicking my feet.

Do you think when you go in for your touch ups you will have anxiety because now you know "the discomfort"?
Can't they give you a Loratab or something?
