I was wondering about stones in glands. Anyone had any? I am sucking on lemon drop candy and even sucking on lemons. I am not on any dry mouth med, and my doctors don't want prescribe any right now. I have a few places that have issues. I have a gland issue on my right side under my jaw. This is one of three areas that my primary wants to have checked by an ent. I also have very noticeable hard enlargement of my parotid on my right side. The hard swelling goes from the front of my ear towards my nose and down to the joint in my jaw. It is as hard as my cheek bone, and has changed my facial shape on my right side. I have a long face on my left side and a heart shape on my right. I have tried massaging to stimulate them. A weird new quirk...when looking inside my mouth, the 'hole' where the saliva comes into my mouth is dark blue and black. Anybody have experiences, ideas, etc? I'm tired of having the painful swelling when I chew. At times it is so intense that it 'locks' my jaw and my face gets very stiff.

That sounds terrible. I'm so sorry! Have you seen a dentist? Someone who specializes in the mouth might be able to help you.
I had a stone in my parotid, and I had to take a Medrol pack (steroids) to get rid of it. Sucking on candy just didn't get the job done. I didn't have discolored saliva, though. That sounds like a pretty big red flag that something is wrong.

I had a stone once a long time before my SJS diagnosis, and it was incredibly painful. The doctor put me on antibiotics and told me to sip grapefruit juice.
I did not have any discolored saliva either. I think Dragonfly is right, you might want to see someone about this.
Thanks for the replies...I see my oral surgeon Monday afternoon. I explained the situation and they are planning to do xrays and will see if he can help. If he can't, he will refer me to someone who can. Some doctors are so awesome and then there are the others....I am a little apprehensive, though. I read that the swelling from a block gland comes and goes with eating. Mine doesn't do that. I always have that, but the pain and inability to move lower part of face comes and goes with eating.

I have a lot of issues with dry mouth, sore mouth and gums, but up to now no gland issues.

Hi, I have a lot of pain in my partoid glands and that's what lead to my diagnosis of sjogrens, after months of neck pain I started with facial pain, which feels bruised to touch and is a lump that comes and goes, my dentist said I was describing a stone so he's sent me to an oral surgeon and I had MRI done which showed chronic immflammation of the salivary glands but no stones, so i still get the pain on and off. I later had blood tests and saw an eye specialist all of which confirmed diagnosis of sjogrens. I find heat helps with the pain.
