Title: Grilled!
Post by: Joe S. on March 06, 2012, 06:56:48 PM
What a day. At 4 this afternoon, Jan asked me to fire up the grill. 20 pounds of chicken breast, 3 pounds of salmon patties, and 6 pounds of burgers.

After an hour an half of grilling, my glasses were covered in grease and my burned from smoke. The burgers were very fatty. Everything was frozen when it went on the grill. Usually I have it thawed first so this is a unique test.

We have Marscon.org this weekend. Jan caters for about 100 people three meals per day. Vegan, Vegetarian, No salt, No pepper, no onions and gluten free. It is a real challenge for her cooking skills.

Chilli, Wild Rice Stew, Build your own pasta, potato soup, Chicken and Mashed potatoes, BBQ Pork and Mashed potatoes, Salmon Burgers, Ham burgers, Chicken Burgers, Salads, vegi-platers, chips.
Sandwich meat: 40 pounds beef roast, 20 pounds turkey, 40 pounds ham
Berry Smoothies, Teas, Pop and Water
Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, Hash browns, Oatmeal
Deviled Eggs (15 dozen), brownies, chip bars.

She is one very busy gal. She is open from 7 am to 1 am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I think she is getting too old to be Super Woman.

Joe, You are one super smart dude, but have you really told your wife that she is too old to be superwoman???? If you didn't I would advise you to continue in that mindset. HaHaHa. We woman can be a little sensitive at times.

Besides, being able to cook like that and pull it off is really hard work but rewarding big time. Irish ;D

I will not be saying any thing about it to her until she has time to de-stress! It took me forever to get her to bed tonight. She just needed time to slow her mind and body down. I may have to rent a van to get all the food and utensils to the hotel.

Wow!  That is a HUGE amount of work!  Joe you better not ever tell her she's too old to be super woman.  Her efforts prove otherwise!  I join Irish's thoughts and stand next to her with my arms folded, toe tapping, with that "Oh don't you even THINK about it" look on my face!!!  ;)  I really love that you see her as super woman  ;D

And that menu sounds so good  :)

It is 2 am and she is still at home cooking. I took a brief nap here at the hotel while waiting for her to complete her task. I have moved about 30 bins of supplies into her double Murphy suite. A couple of massage chairs, vibrators, air filters and misc. into the massage suite. I am in our suite. All the suites are connected. It is about the equivalent of 4 double hotel rooms.

We are using this configuration so she has power to provide meals for about 100 people.

I hope to pick her up soon so she can get some rest before the breakfast rush. 3 days 7am to 1am.

How's MarsCon going? I hope you have a super-duper time!

Wish I could be there --- I just downloaded Hellbound Snowballs to my Kindle and would love to meet the author! :)

Jan was very tired but refused to admit it. She went out to the car for a 1/2 hour nap Tuesday AM and woke an hour and a half later to someone tapping at the window to see if she was okay. She jumped out of the car locking her keys inside. I got called to rescue her about 10 am. I got downtown about 11 am. It took 1/2 hour for some one to come and let her out of the ramp.

Wednesday morning she found out that they changed the out time on the ramp and she was locked in again. Thursday a traffic back up at the gate locked her in. A bell man from a near by hotel let her out.

By Friday after sleeping in for a number of extra hours, she is back to her self.
