Title: Losing posts?
Post by: Carolina on February 25, 2012, 07:32:41 AM
Anyone else run the spell check and find the post gone?

All my precious so vital words?

GONE!

Yup...but I keep forgetting and doing it anyway!  Word doc with spell check first, then cut and paste is a GOOD thing!  ;)

Great idea.   I'll try to be that organized!

But here I am typing in the orange space, per usual.

OK. I've lost a couple of really good posts, especially one on methyl b-12 that I worked on for hours -- and then thought a moderator had pulled it for some reason. They assure me that's not the case.

I lost another post because there was an interruption in my internet connection.

I don't use spell check, but sometimes I search on a topic or member's name, and have lost shorter posts that way.

What I do now, when I sense that I've invested time and talent into a post, is to save it as often as I think of it, every paragraph or so. That way I keep my train of thought, and development of ideas, without disruption. OK sometimes it would be better if they *were* disrupted,  ;D but still, I like sending the post as a unit, hot off the fingers.

All the best,
Soycoffee

Sometimes when I have trouble with this, I will write my response in WORD and then cut and paste it into the post reply. It helps some times.

This seems to be a "timed out" error of some kind.

When this happens to me I click on the "back" button on my browser. Then I can recapture my (cleverly written and especially thoughtful) post by copying it. I then open the forum in another browser window and can post my words into a reply window.

Voila!   8)
