Title: Strep from Penicillin?
Post by: Joe S. on January 22, 2012, 06:10:55 AM
Last week a tooth broke. The dentist put in a temporary filling. Because it was infected I asked for penicillin. Since the tooth was to be pulled on Tuesday, I started taking the antibiotics on Friday. Yesterday, strep flaired. Sinuses, glands, sore throat, and fever last night with fluid drainage. I have had strep to know that this is normal.

Here is my questions: Did my immune system quit fighting the infection because of the penicillin? Or, did the strep rally to fight the penicillin?

The whole reaction seems strange to me. Usually I will just Zap the bug and not take the antibiotic. Oh well back to the zap as soon as I can set it up.

Hi Joe  :)

That's a weird one! Theoretically the penicillin ought to have made strep less likely because, I believe, it is used to combat strep. When I was a kid I suffered from a lot of strep throats and eventually penicillin ceased to work and I needed another antibiotic instead.

I hope you get the infection sorted out and I empathise with your broken tooth. I'm due to have one extracted at the end of this week and am not looking forward to it.

Take care - Scottie  :)

The penicillin could have killed off something that was outcompeting the strep. Then the strep took over. The same thing can happen when you take antibiotics, and then a fungal infection takes over. The fungi and strep both appreciated the assistance!

I think that it may have turned into pneumonia today. At supper time I was drowning in fluids. I could not expel them fast enough. I pulled out the frequency generator and 1/2 hour later I was drying out. The pressure in my chest was gone. I will use the generator tomorrow now that it is unpacked. It should be cleared up within a few days if I am using the correct frequencies.

I have the tooth pulled on Tuesday. I see my GP on Friday.

Joe, I am wondering if you have had this infection cultured. It can be quite tricky to identify a strept infection. One can't do it by a visual exam as it needs to be done under a microscope.

You could have had another type of bacteriail infection that was kicked out when the dentist was working on your broken tooth. It may well be that the penicillin doesn't kill this bacteria. Teeth can harbor all kinds of bacteria. Once this gets kicked out into the mouth the bacteria can grow and cause infection in the throat, sinuses and go down into the bronchioles/lungs.

I hope that you can keep things under control until you see the dentist. Good luck. Irish

Joe,
I would also suggest that you have this infection checked by your doc to see if it's truly strep.  I think Irish might be onto something about the tooth infection being the cause of your other problems.

I just know from experience how bacteria and infections in our teeth and gums can make us so sick, and these "nasties" can travel quickly to many parts of our bodies.   Not to sound too scary, but they can also travel to our hearts.  Please let us know what the dentist says tomorrow and definitely if you're still having chest problems before Friday, call your GP right away.

Keep us posted, ok?
Melinda

I played the tones last night and covered a large group of bacteria. It allowed me to breathe better. During my meditation last night Allergies were brought up. I took an allergy pill and had 4 hours of relief.

Thank you, everyone, for your concern.
