Title: Lymph Node Swelling During Flare Up?
Post by: Shelly on January 13, 2012, 12:25:13 PM
Hi All,

I'm not sure if this is related to my Sjogren's or not, but I have swollen lymph nodes on the back and side of my neck (the left side if that makes a difference).  I have about three or four visibly swollen nodes there and was wondering if any of you have ever experienced this during a 'flare up'?

I recently had a bout of salivary gland swelling in December and have been feeling very worn out lately.  I could just be fighting off an infection.  I went to my PCP today and they ordered a CBC to check my WBC and I am following up with them in 4 weeks or so.  Hopefully everything is okay.  As some of you already know, I was only diagnosed with Sjogren's this December.  I've been concerned about my health since September so this is just another issue to tack onto my worrying  :(

I am confident that everything will be fine but I just keep getting bad news about my health so can you blame me for worrying at least a little?!  Anyway, if any of you HAVE experienced lymph node swelling in the back/side of your neck during a flare up please let me know!  It will ease my worrying at least a little ::)

Trying to stay positive!
Shelly

Hi Shelly,
My lymphnode swelling almost always is under my left arm and accross my breastbone.  Sometimes my parotid glands too. Very uncomfortable and is usually is accompanied by fatigue and over all achiness. This is how my flares start. I have never had the nodes in my neck swell, at least not yet.

I think the swollen lymphnodes are part of the whole sjogrens thing. But i am kind of new to this too, diagnosed not quite a year ago. Hopefully someone will post for you some better information.

Try not to worry..

Often have swollen nodes in neck, under jaw, and beneath ears. Worse when other symptoms are aggrevated.

Lymphatic drainage massage. Polar fleece mumps scarf. Sip, Swish, Swallow. It's a cryptic night for me.

Im not sure if this is the same or not, but my daughter and husband have had swollen lymph nodes in their necks before. Neither of them have Sjogrens or any autoimmune disease. It was just some infection that got to them. Antibiotics took care of it. In one case they did nothing. Told her to wait and it should go away. it did.
I hope its nothing serious for you. Let us know what you find out.

Thank you for all of your responses!  My lymph nodes are still swollen and I have a follow-up with the doctor on Valentine's Day if they are still swollen by then.  My blood work came back normal so that's a plus!  I still don't feel sick at all, just really run down and tired.  My salivary glands are giving me some trouble, but nothing that I would note as a 'flare up'... yet....

I'll keep you posted and thank you once again for all your responses! :)
