OK, for those of you freezing your tushies off up north.
Here it has been in the 40's at night, all December, and in the 60's or 70's during the day.
The the weather people had a field day this week when the low got down to 25.
WOW, colder weather! You would have thought it was a hurricane they were so psyched up.
I still don't have to wear gloves, a hat or a scarf, folks.
And today it was up to 55 again, so I think our amazing cold 'snap' may have passed.
Oh well, and some of the cherry trees are budding, by the way.
And the daffodils are up about 4 inches.
Spring will be here in March.
HOWEVER, the downside is that Summer lasts from April to October.
Anyway, I wanted you to share our exciting cold weather, while it lasts.
Hugs
Elaine
Here in Oklahoma we've kind-of had the same weather you've had. Kind of cold morning and warm afternoons. You don't really even need a coat much less a real heavy winter one. But I think our turn for really cold weather is coming in February just like last year. Two blizzards in two weeks time. With SJS a blizzard is not the kind of weather you want. If it stayed around 75 during the day and about 45 at night that would be just fine with me.
??? Hawaii ??? I wonder if that is the place to go. I have never been there. Any one from there?
We're just freeeeezing half to death here in NE PA. Gahhh it was 2 this morning when I woke up :'(
I was in Hawaii for Christmas but a long, long time ago. I don't think I could handle their summers at all cause their winter was pretty darn warm to me!
Oh Joe,
Yes, we had family in Hawaii for six years, and somehow that meant 3 weeks at Christmas EVERY year, don't you know.
Hawaii weather is perfect, balmy but not really humid. The days are the same length year round.
And the summer isn't more than 10 degrees warmer than the winter, really.
The air smells wonderful because all the flowers and trees are blooming (mind the allergies tho).
We went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay in December, on the marvelous coral reefs.

Try not to drool on the screen.
There is a downside of course. It is a zillion miles from everything. The economy is tourists and the military.
Did I say it was a zillion miles from everything? A zillion miles that require very expensive air travel.
No one really EVER dresses up. The fanciest restaurants accept Bermuda shorts and sandals year round.
Fresh fruit, fresh fish...but everything comes in from somewhere else and costs an arm and a leg, and your first born child.
Christmas is quite odd, especially with so many Asians living in the islands, definitely a tropical and more low key event.
The weather is amazing. The hotels have lobbies open to the outside, as do the airports. You keep thinking, wait how can this be?
It is just is. And of course there's always another marvelous beach around the next bend. And you can see the Banzai Pipeline competitions on the North Shore of Oahu, and swim with turtles.
I've also been told that in the mainland the closest thing to perfect weather is in San Diego, with only the occasional Santa Ana wind coming of the desert to make people miserable.

Drool! I tried not to.
Your winter sounds like ours' here in North Georgia. We have had a few cold days with bitter wind the past two weeks, but then this afternoon it was back in the mid-50's. :) Wonderful when you have boys in the house that you can send OUTSIDE!
We've been trying to get accustomed (with the emphasis on trying) to very cold nights and days this week. Down to 13 degrees the last 2 mornings when my husband went to work~ oooohhhhh!!
Hope everyone is hanging in there in the cold/wet weather. Stay warm! :D ;D
Oh GeorgiaGirl!
We lived in Gainesville for 12 years, Georgia that is.
Further south, but higher up, so very much like where we are in North Carolina, which is Cary, just below and slightly west of Raleigh.
Now however the cold snap is easing up and by Friday it will be in the mid 60's again during the day.
Wait, your kids actually play outside? WOW, I love it.
All the kids I know have to have an organized activity outside with adults.

Did you hear Greg Fishel say last night that in two weeks we will be faced with another artic chill like the one we just had only it might last longer.
At 10 & 8, they are most definitely outside as often the weather is nice. Luckily, we live in a small neighborhood without a lot of traffic & they are good about following the basic rules of staying in the yard, etc. My husband works out of the house much of the time. If the kids were inside all the time, we'd all go nuts! They are so loud!
Plus, they learn to entertain themselves & invent things to do. Give them a large cardboard box and good weather & they're ready for a day of it. They get mad when they have to stop for those organized things like basketball practice and Cub Scouts.
Carolina, we're on the opposite side of NGa from Gainesville, up Interstate 75 from Atlanta. So excited to see the gorgeous 60 degree weather this afternoon. Of course, I'll be complaining when it's been several weeks in row of sticky, sultry 95+ degrees come July!
