Title: What's really irritating me about family???
Post by: Parched on December 28, 2011, 04:34:39 PM
Hello Again,

I guess it is obvious from my posts today that my family is really irritating me lately..

I'm really struggling with my anger at my family (immediate and extended members)..  My journey began four years ago the week before Christmas when my doctors suspected I had leukemia fortunately that is not what was wrong and I am thank full for that... everyone was so supportive and caring.  Now that we know what is wrong family thinks I should be getting better and that this disease is just no big deal.  My mother-in-law thinks this will just go away if I would push myself more.  Like I don't all ready push myself into the ground most days until I collapse from exhaustion. I'm reaching the point I just want them all to stay away and leave me alone..

I realize from reading many posts on here over the last year that no one can relate to what life is like for a person living with an auto immune disease unless you are one of us.   I can not begin to express how much I appreciate this group of people. I have only posted a few times in the 18 months I have been diagnosed and visiting this site but just reading the posts has been my life line.
.  So I thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart....

I feel the same way!! I have learned soooo much from other posts and feel more comforted by strangers - than most family members and friends! I guess because we've walked a few miles in each others shoes! I am also thankful for this board!

:) Yes this is a pretty special place to come to isn't it? It sure is for me, and others as well. You have added to our lives also. People have a hard time relating to what they don't know, and some fear what they don't know (fear of the unknown).

In the end we have to just do the best we can to have as little stress as possible, because for me that is as important as one of my meds or more so. Also, coming here or for some at least reading here is also very very important to know you are not alone.

This place has been a life saver for me.  We all know how each other feels and to what degree we're going through.  I love my hubby to pieces but most days, he just doesn't get it.  These guys do.

I love this board! I love all the folks on this board!

I appreciate so much all the information and support I get here and the fact that I can vent without hurting anyone's feelings or be completely negative without making others not want to be around me anymore. It's huge to know I'm not alone. I also feel privileged to be able to help others from time to time.

I feel safe here.

Parched,

I'm glad you're feeling better today.  I think we all might have times we think we learned not to let our family or others get to us.  Then someone expects the impossible, and we're left wondering if they know anything about our struggles at all.  ::)

You're not alone in any of this here!  ;) I so appreciate all the support here, and it has made a huge difference in my life.  It is a safe place to express anything we want.

lori, I feel the same, too. This illness has humbled me and that's been a good thing since I can try to understand more about someone else's health issues.

Have a good day!
Melinda
