well i called the one doc in my area who is supposedly integrative and they said she doesn't do food testing, candida, etc... I dont get it.. they told me to speak with my general practioner.. i am so frustrated... My GP did test me for wheat but i believe the bloodwork came back ok.. and i know that the bloodwork isnt 100% conclusive..
i guess i will just have to stay away from sugar on my own and see if it helps... i dont know what to do!!
I think that I read a book on doing your own allergy testing so there may be a how-to website that will tell you how to do it. I think they talked about doing it on the underside of your arm.
I may have missed an earlier post, but why not see a regular allergist to do a food panel if you suspect food allergies? I've dealt with a food allergy with my younger daughter, and it's nothing I would want to diagnose myself.
not sure where you are but in Canada who you are looking for is a Naturopath. They do allergy testing that is much different than an allergist who look just at dermal reactions and limited serum ones.
I had the ALCAT testing done last spring through a natural doctor. And I had prior prick testing through a mainstream allergist. The prick testing was somewhat helpful in discovering some surprising allergies, but I was impressed with the ALCAT, because it not only reflected the same results as the allergist but uncovered some lesser allergies/sensitivities in addition.
The testing is kind of expensive though, and only part was covered by insurance.
I've had allergy testing through an allergist but all they do is prescribe drugs. I found an integrative doctor who does more extensive testing & ellimination.
Keep looking, like others said try holistic doctors. Mine is actually a D.O. who specializes in autoimmune, POTS, and autism.
Good luck, Carie
I went to go get allergy testing a few different places ( i have chronic eczema all over my body ) and they all turned me down because i have an autoimmune disease and my results will be skewed by the disease and immunosuppresants / chloroquine's I'm on.
Find a chiropractor or naturopath that does 'muscle testing' or ART .. kinesiology. Great way to find out what you are allergic to.
just went and had bloodwork for candida.. at least its a step in the right direction. will talkl to my doc in a few weeks about seeing someone for food allergies, etc.
