First, I'd like to thank each of you for your well wishes and prayers during my grandson's visit. We had a wonderful time and got to do a lot of things he wanted to do.
I was a little shocked when he saw the Jesus Birthday Cake I had made. He said, "Gramma, I really wanted to help with that." So what does this ole Gramma do. She takes a cake out of the freezer, lets it thaw and makes some piping icing so he could decorate. He did it all and it turned out beautifully. We shot the rifles/pistols and hiked in the woods. I only last 20 minutes at that. Then we opened presents, sang Happy Birthday Jesus and had cake. Later we played cards and Scrabble, then he and Papa retired to the Man Cave to watch a Transformer movie.
The next morning I had an appointment with the Eye Doc to see if I could take Plaquenil (I can - will start after the new year). Would you believe it took 2 hours. I was so upset because that was 2 hours out of the time we had our grandson with us. He took it in stride and napped the entire time, waking up starving so we went to out for brunch. All in all, it was a wonderful, sweet time with our 11 yr. old grandson. Then it was time to take him back to his dads. He was excited to take the 14 layer cake he decorated back to his other Grandparents and Dad. We will go see him again before he goes home.
My hubby has been helping me bake since last Tues. Together we made peanut butter balls, peanut brittle, chocolate dipped pretzels, brownies, miniature banana nut bread, pecan pie tarts, caramel corn, two regular size pecan pies, a 14 layer cake with Chocolate Fudge Icing, and an 8 layer (6 in) cake to give away. We also made 5 homemade Chicken Pot Pies. Hubby got out all the ingredients and did all the cleanup. With his help, I was able to make 20 Goodie Bags for my ladies Sunday School Class. Everybit of it was homemade except the actual pretzels (we did make the dark chocolate dip, though). Oh, I forgot about the homemade Chicken and Dumplins.
I used to do things like this every CHRISTmas; but, haven't been able to in 8 yrs. I just wanted to do it one more time. Now, I think I will never attempt that much in a week. Can you tell why I am EXHAUSTED?
Before I go, let me wish you (my special friends) a very Merry CHRISTmas. God bless you all.

I am glad the visit went well. I know you want to do "more" than 20 minutes but you still got up, got out and DID it!! I am not a grandma (yet - I do have a 21 year old daughter) and I can't keep up with my 10 year old son. I hurt all the time and sit out many activities. Thank goodness my husband is able to help so much with him. And my husband is 12 years older than me!!
You did so much - I am so proud of you. Merry Christmas - now rest your bones!!
HUGS,

I got exhausted reading all you did!
Good for you, and your grandson will have great memories of time spent with you.
I find my grandchildren just want to be in my house, they don't have to be busy the whole time.
Merry Christmas to you and yours and a Blessed New Year!
oh bless you. It sounds like you made the time you had with your grandson special. It will be those times that you spend quality time with him that he will remember in the years to come.xx
Great job! It sounds like you did a lot and I know it was meaningful to your grandson! Yeah for you!
Now, you take some real deserved rest and get back to " normal!"
