Jan and I stopped at an Arbys on the way home on Sunday night. She started vomiting shortly after we go home and spent Monday in bed. I ran some errands on Monday and got home about 3pm. Shortly afterward I started with blood and vomit. Jan was over it by Tuesday. I thought I was over it on Wednesday and had my pill with two pieces of bread. I could not hold it any longer and by 3pm I was emptying everything. Today, I find that I can not eat any thing with wheat or may be difficult to digest.
I used a round of Tones to kill yeast so I no longer burp bread dough. I also used it to kill some common stomach viruses as well as strep, staph and Pneumonia for my scratchy throat.
My stomach is currently very weak. Every time that this has happened in the past, I have gained a new food allergy. To recover, I have had to eat cheese, soda crackers, and Seven-up or ginger ail.
What do you think this may be? I hope to eat real food tomorrow but I do have cheese and soda crackers.
So sorry to hear you and Jan are sick. It sounds like you have been miserable.
From what you have said, it could possibly be food poisoning. I ate some chicken at a restaurant and was too sick to move (except to run to the bathroom). I have never been that sick before and hope to never again.
Hope you are feeling better.
Joe, Sorry to hear that you got waylaid or whatever the heck happened.
It could be food poisoning as that happens all too often. I know one time hubby and I ate at a McDonalds and about 3 hours later I got sick and I thought I would die. Hubby was only mildly ill but I don't think he had quite the same sandwich that I did.
The other thing is it could be the flu. I am a fellow Minnesotan and there is flu going around. We had supper on Tuesday evening and hubby said his guts acted up some but settled down later. The next night around 12 MN he got really sick with diarrhea. He kept telling me it was the lettuce in the salad and I kept telling him that I ate the same thing he did and I didn't get sick.
Today our son told us that he had the same thing this weekend and it lasted about 36 hours or so. Hubby was up around 8:30 AM today and then napped in the recliner. ATe some dry toast with jelly and broth for lunch and laid down for a nap of about 2 1/2 hours.
Soooo- the jury may stay out on your ailment and you will have to live without really knowing whatever happened. Joe, if you don't recover soon you may need to get to the doctor as it can screw up blood sugars. I am sure you know this, but I thought I would nag a little. lol
Hope you and Jan get recovered enough to enjoy the holiday weekend. Irish ;D
Jan has recovered. I was looking for Ideas as to what it may be to look for a treatment. Thank you for your concern.
Irish, I hope your hubby gets better.
I hope you're feeling better now, Joe!
Food poisoning isn't any fun, and neither is one of those 24 hour stomach bugs.
I have had food poisoning a couple of times, and learned the REAL meaning of 'violently ill'.
There are various kinds of food poisoning and some take a while to show up, but the most common experience happens about 2-6 hours after eating the contaminated food. And it can be very ugly to experience.

When I had food poisoning there wasn't any question in my mind that it might be the flu.
I've also had a violent allergic reaction to sheep's milk feta cheese, which unfortunately was the first thing I ate of a large Mediterranean dinner. First in, last out, with violent vomiting until my stomach was completely empty. No one else got sick, so it was clearly an allergic reaction. I'm allergic to everything related to sheep.
I thought it was goat's milk cheese, which doesn't bother me.
Keep us posted on your recovery.
Hugs
Elaine
I wonder if the local health department should be notified about your getting sick after visiting that Arby's. Perhaps you all wouldn't be the first to report food poisining from that restaurant.
Hi Joe :)
Did you and your wife eat exactly the same thing?
It sounds like food poisoning or a 24 hour stomach bug. Could be either. If it persists - seek medical advice!! make sure you take plenty fluids and if they won't stay down suck on chipped ice.
Hope you feel better soon.
Take care - Scottie.
I will be going in today. I guess there are no wool socks for Elaine for Christmas. :)
TMI warning: pancake batter flowing out down south today.
Joe, remind me never to have breakfast with you and Jan. :o
Okay, I just got back from the urgent care doctor. She was nice and talked with me. The pain in my side had moved down and she said costochon. She suggested that I get a colonoscopy. She told me of an alternative therapy center in the Twin Cities. Pathways gives free sessions. I pressed her and she suggested that when the vomit came through my nose it triggered an andro virus. I have to see if I have tones for something like that.
I too am glad that you and Jan are doing better! I've had food poisoning once and never ever want to repeat that mess!
Patze
There is the stomach flu going around. I got it Tuesday. Went into work fine but started feeling lousy very quickly. My gp worked my in and said was stomach flu and he was seeing a heck of a lot of it and it comes on quick. Didn't have diarreha, just cramping. BUT dr had me take the Immodium to stop the cramping and also gave me an antinausea pill. By Thursday I was a lot better. Today ok and hope to eat normal.
Food poisoning comes on quickly too but my round with food poisoning was a heck lot worse than the stomach flu. I even asked my mother if having a baby was that bad as she had it too. We got over it in a day but I took it easy on food just liquids - mom ate and brought it back again.
Just take it easy and just have liquids for a day and give the tummy a rest.
