So many of you probably saw my recent post on the discussion board about sjogrens/worrying and I talked about my cat and our flea problem.
So last night our cat was due for his follow up dose of strongid, which is a dewormer. It is an oral medication. I asked my husband to do it because I didn't do so well with administering the first dose. Then I came upstairs and showered and went to bed.
This morning, I went downstairs to our kitchen and saw that the strongid dose was still sitting in the window, and that he had opened a pack of Revolution and given that to him. By MOUTH. Revolution is a TOPICAL treatment, and he wasn't even due for his next topical treatment for another 2 weeks.
So I frantically threw on my clothes, found Vinnie (our cat) and rushed him to the vet. They said he will probably be ok but I am sitting here in tears right now worried sick. I've had Vinnie for 10 years through thick and thin and I will be a complete wreck if he does not make it through this. He has already been through so much over the last few months dealilng with the fleas and having to go to the farm for a month while we had our house treated 4 times.
I can't stop crying and to top it off I have a stupid work Christmas luncheon I have to go to today. The vet is keeping him for observation all day but I am just a mess.
Please pray for my kitty that he makes it through and doesn't die. I cannot handle that right now. This year has been so awful. I cannot wait till it is over.
Oh, LoLo! How terrible!
And how awful your husband must feel for making YOU feel so awful!
So thankful you saw the error and were able to get Vinnie in to see the vet so quickly. You probably saved one of his nine lives!
I agree with confused that you should call the vet whenever you feel like seeing how the fuzzball is doing. I also visited my kitty when he was sick nigh unto death and had to stay at the vet for three days. I visited before work, during my lunch break and again after work. I was not the only one visiting a pet, by the way.

Positive thought your way -- hoping for the best for you and Vinnie.
So sorry LoLo - what a horrible shock for you, and poor Vinnie. You have had a miserable few months and this just crowned it. Thinking of you and hoping there will be no problems. Sending you hugs (and kitty hugs to Vinnie from Betty and Teddy)

Positive vibes for your cat. I hope he's OK. Scary time till you know that he is.
Take care - Scottie
Lolo
I consider my pets to be part of the family. So I can empathize with you.
I hope the kitty does not have a reaction to the medicine. I am sure the vet is monitoring the cat very well.
Try to calm down
