Title: Christmas Shopping Meltdown
Post by: williak on December 18, 2011, 05:26:23 AM
Most of the time, I try to ignore the fact that I have Sjogrens.  I take my meds and I rest in the evenings.  My house is messy, but it's OK.

Yesterday I decided to do my Christmas shopping.  An hour drive both ways, 4 hours on my feet shopping.  I crashed when I got home.  The top of my feet hurt so bad.  I don't get it.  One would think that the bottom of the feet would hurt, but these days it is always the top.  I have really bad arthritis in my left knee.  I felt old and stiff when ever I got out of the car and my knee is threatening to give out.  I feel a lot older than I am.  I went to bed at 8 as I literally could not stay awake for another minute.

Wishing you all enough for the holidays!  Rest when you can and enjoy what comes your way!

Kim

Kim,

And that is precisely why 99% of my Christmas shopping is done on the internet!! I have painful, sore feet that are very sensitive to cold or too much standing/walking. Although, I do take walks with my dogs to keep my back and legs from getting too stiff.

Sorry you struggled so much, just trying to make the holiday nice for others with gifts. Pat yourself on the back for getting it done. There is no shame in resting and recovering.

HUGS,
KellyG

I hope you got some really great gifts to make all the pain and tiredness worthwhile!

It's so hard to limit the time you spend shopping, isn't it? Just one more store...and another...while I'm here...and it took so darn long to get here...ow, ow, ow...how on earth will I manage the drive home?...Oh dear lord I've overdone it...again!

I'm like KellyG - I do as much as possible on-line and only get any exercise because my gorgeous dogs look at me with their big brown eyes and I force myself to walk with them every day.

Unlike shopping, a brisk half hour walk with my pooches brings me joy and fulfillment, and usually doesn't make my feet burn, knees ache, hips groan...and purse empty!

Hi Kim,

I'm so glad that you were able to do some shopping!  Were you able to finish it up?

Oh my, I sure can sympathize with you about the painful feet, whew!  If I have to stand up or walk for hours, I know that the bottom of my feet will be killing me soon.  I have tried all kinds of pads, gel forms, and pretty much everything else I could think of to help but so far nadda.

I'm also curious to see what ours have tried that has helped their poor doggies.

Take care of yourself -
