All,
I am so discouraged. I have actually been doing pretty well - back at work FT almost 2 months now (yay!) and managing the house, kiddo and dogs. I even did a few hours of charity work last Sunday - LOVE that!
The last few evenings my throat has gotten dry, clogged and my lungs are all scratchy. I am coughing constantly, and sooo hoarse. For almost a year I was in a continual flare, but having been fairly well (except the usual chronic pain and dry mouth/eyes) I thought maybe it was going to be stable. I guess that was really foolish. But one can dream, right?
I am drinking warm tea, warm cocoa, hot water and lemon, plain water. I am full to the gills and no relief.
I hope you all have a better weekend.
HUGS to all my friends,
KellyG
Oh my goodness, I get that with the lungs - last night I had some salty foods, didnt think anything of it, went to bed and woke up at 5am with a bronchitis type of pain when I take a deep breath in, my salivary glands are so sore, my lungs all scratchy and I felt so dehydrated that my kidneys were aching and although I wanted to pee, there was no urine - all from a pepperoni pizza!
The lung part is so hard isnt it? I cant afford to buy a humidifier as I am not earning but I cant think of anything to make it better. Well done on your part time job, running a home and looking after a child - my god that sounds so exhausting, you are doing a lot better than people without Sjogrens, you should be bloody proud of yourself mate. xxxx
Corella,
I just posted this on another thread. For "dry" lungs, and no humidifier handy, go into a small bathroom, and run hot water until it steams the room. Stay there until it gets chilly. You should find it easier to breathe.
If you get any gift certificates or other money for the holidays, there are a few inexpensive but good humidifiers on Amazon (use the Sjögren's world link).
Hope you are better soon. {Hug}
Kelly, Oh, your progress was so heartening. I have found your example heartening, when I feel professional again, with 5 mg of Prednisone finally prescribed, and four days of good energy, and a great night's sleep, too. I told myself, "well, maybe I can do what KellyG does!"
Have to say, though, sick or well, you have a great voice on this forum.

Corella and Soy.
Wow. What humbling messages from you both. And here I generally feel like a lazy bum who never gets it all done.
Thank you so much. I am going to sit in the bathroom with a hot shower running full blast and breathing in more steam than ever before!
I appreciate the encouragement so much..

Kelly,
I went to a support group meeting yesterday and one of the members brought up the fact of feeling guilty that they can not do it all anymore. The whole group agreed that we have felt like lazy bums and have a lot of guilt about someone else having to pick up the slack.
It did take a long time for me to learn to be able to decided to not feel guilty about that. I now feel that if I make it through the work day and the dinner dishes in the dishwasher I have had a good day. I must also say that my husband loves to cook so I rest while he fixes dinner and then I do the dishes.
Best wishes to you on finding a way to get through it all.
SueAnn
Check the thrift shops for humidifiers. Clean them very, very well, but they are very reasonable there.
