Title: For those who take Cymbalta
Post by: SueAnn on December 17, 2011, 02:09:36 PM
What time of day do you take your Cymbalta?   I tried it before Thanksgiving and I felt like a zombie, but I now have two weeks off work and want to see if it is something that will help me with pain.

I am wondering if it should be taken before bedtime or in the morning?

Hi SueAnn,

I no longer take Cymbalta, but I did for about a year.  I took (2) 60 mgs. a day so took it once in the am and once at night.
I really can't say when would be best to take it for you personally.  Maybe others will come along with advice, but it's always a good idea to ask your prescribing doctor what they suggest.

May I ask why you felt like a zombie?

Good luck,
Melinda

Meld,

I couldn't say why I felt like a zombie.  I can say that I couldn't stop yawning and I felt like I was walking through a fog.  I had just gotten my fatigue under control when I started this med so I didn't want to go back to feeling like I couldn't get up.

Dear SueAnn:

I take mine both morning and evening, but if I had to choose I would choose evening because pain is worst for  me at night and if it makes me sleepy (which I haven't connected to Cymbalta) then nighttime would be better for that!

Let us know how to works out for you.

Hugs

I briefly tried Cymbalta, and also experienced a zombie like state. Just staring at things blankly, not enough motivation or energy to go get food.  Dizzy, hard time with my balance.

So while it can be wonderful for some, not everyone is able to take it. I'm not sure best time of the day, but just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one who can be a zombie on it.

Best of luck

Thank you for your responses.  Warmwaters, I am glad that i am not the only one who felt like a zombie, I was really wondering.  I did take it at 6:30 last night and I am going to try taking it at night to see if that helps.

The neurologist gave me 30 ml pills to take for a week, then 60 and told me it shouldn't matter when I took it.

Dear Gursie:

When Will Generic Cymbalta Be Available?
Eli Lilly has the exclusive rights to market Cymbalta until June 2013. This is the earliest possible date that a generic version of Cymbalta could become available.

Hope this helps.  Well it won't, not with expenses!

I checked this morning and Cymbalta is considered a step two medication on my insurance plan.  That means I would have to try, Prozac, Zoloft, ect. or my neurologist would have to fight them for it.  I looked up all the other meds and they do no do what Cymbalta says it does.

I did take one last night and I am again having the fatigue that I felt the last time.  I just don't think I am in the mood to try a medication and fight a fight with the insurance company as well.

I also take Cymbalta. I was taking 90 mg and my Dr. increased it to 120. I took that for a while but I am always so tired. so I started only taking 60 mg and I was still tired but also in pain. and I was really depressed. so I increased it back to 120. I take two pills in the morning.  What a dummy I was to change it. I can't wait until the bigger dose is in my system. I am going to talk to the Dr. again about being so tired. I don't think anything can help me. at one visit my husband told the Dr. all I ever do is sleep. he sent me for a sleep study and we found out i stopped breathing like 30 times an hour and my ox level was only 78. I have a bad heart and so I was put on a cpap right away. and now my Hubby is on a cpap too. its pretty funny. I don't think I could do anything with out my cymbalta. I also have ADHD. I have so much brain fog. Thanks for lisening
