For the past month or so I've been puzzled by oozing wetness in my armpits, which of course are usually dry as a bone. I thought it was lymph nodes oozing, and my doctor sent me to get a mammogram. The operator paid special attention to the areas of lymph nodes, and they were all clear.
I'm not yet at the point of asking what to do about it, but does anyone else have wet armpits? :P

nope sorry soy....can't say I've had much in the way of wet areas....haven't had to use deodarant for years! I hope you can get to the bottom of this.....is it really soaking your clothes or is it a gradual sweat?
Since the mammogram I got, on the theory that something was wrong with my lymph nodes came up negative, I have to assume that it is sweat that is oozing rather than trickling into my armpit.
I think it may not be pathological, but rather is a reaction to Prednisone. First I had the 7 days of 50 mgm /day and tapering after that -- given for Bell's Palsy, and a cure for Bell's Palsy. More recently, three weeks ago, the rheumy prescribed 5 mg of Prednisone. I got some small effect from the first experience, and sweating (that strange wetness) reappeared.
I believe that I had stopped armpit sweating by the mid 1980s. Thigh sweating is a different critter. Mostly now, I just sweat, when I must, across the back of my waist.
Glad to know someone else knows what it means to have dry armpits -- now that I don't. Tongue-in-cheek again. Do you suppose it's another one of those negative side effects of Prednisone, those bad effects I haven't run into yet?
Best,

I always had very dry armpits until literally one day! Then it was ridiculous how wet they would be. All my doctors said (at first) was that it was hyperhydrosis & I'll be fine. They told me to use the heavy duty antiperspirant.
After all my diagnosis though they now agree it was my first sign of my autonomic nervous system "breaking". Do you show any other signs of dysautonomia?
It could be a side effect or hormones too but I thought I'd share.
Good luck, Carie
It sounds like your Autonomic Nervous System is acting up. I don't get wet armpits anymore, but I get random sweat-marks when I'm hot - a line across the middle of my back one time, another day across my tummy, or down the side of my waist. Totally unpredictable strips of sweating!
My neurologist said it's gotta be ANS going nutso.
;)
I just saw my neurologist this past week and was complaining about all the sweating I do. She said it was autonomic system dysfunction which I already knew, of course. She also said that I am on Lopressor or metoprolol 50 mgm for my blood pressure and the beta blockers are used to help to cut down on the autonomics effects.
She also said that to give me more than 50 mgm would not be prudent as I could run into other issues with too much beta blocker in my system. Ain't that the way it goes. I hate to think how much I would be sweating and swooning if I wasn't on the beta blocker. Irish ;D
When I'm taking the salagen, I do tend to sweat more, but that's about all I can add about wet armpits. I used to be a profuse sweater - never really thought about whether it's gotten less; I'll make a mental note to pay attention to whether I sweat more or less now. ;)
Thanks for all your responses. I really wondered whether this dryness was more Sicca Syndrome/Sjögren's syndrome dryness, or another autonomic nervous system symptom. Not that I have an answer, but I'll see my peripheral neuropathy neuro later today, and it will be a symptom to mention, thanks to you guys.
Oh, and also, I'm not really at the anti-perspirant stage yet, it's more like an oozing, not dripping.
Thanks,
