I've heard some Buble around lately and some vintage rock n roll stuff...

I'd love some additional ideas!!!!!!!

I get tired of Christmas music pretty fast after a few days. Sorry Folks!  :-X

But I do like the funny ones. I just heard one on the country station. Don't know the name of the song but: folks came he didn't know how he was related to for Christmas, they plugged in their RV to the house and blew a fuse. LOL  ;D

There are the funny stories too like the Rednecked Christmas.  No I am not prejudice - I will laugh at anyone.  ;D  Real people are real characters.

OMG, I cannot STAND the song "Carol of the Bells." It's simply the most annoying song on Earth.

BAH-bah-bah-bah; BAH-bah-bah-bah; BAH-bah-bah-bah; BAH-bah-bah-bah!!!!!

Louder and louder until I want to jump out the window!  AAArrrggghhh!

So of course my 14-year-old granddaughter is too funny and actually found a Christmas card for me that plays that song when you open it up!

Now, how can I help but love that song!   :D

This morning I heard a song called "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" on the radio. Now it's stuck in my head!  :)

Oh heavens I didn't just mean holiday music...

My friend did send me some funny humorous songs about Christmas... One sounded like Noel Coward... they were all sassy!

Did anyone get non-holiday music as a gift?

Pisces24 - I think the song you're thinking of is "Merry Christmas from the Family".  YouTube has a version by Robert Earl Keene.  (Dixie Chicks also recorded it).  It's one of my fave Christmas songs - sounds more like a real family!!

Oh my, I'm all about the "old time vintage" rock & roll!  Like Joe, I have more than a thousand tunes as I must have them handy all the time as I never know when I'll need the "pick me up"! :D  Can't open up a car door without a few CDs falling out! ;D  Sometimes though it's a simple song like "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor" that will bring on a smile.

Take care -

If I'm upset or depressed, I put on GreenDay's Holiday.  It's anti everything and gets me in the fighting mood to pick myself up and dust my fat keister off and get going.

I really like Sarit Hadad too.  She has a very relaxing and powerful voice.

But my original choices are still my favs.   :)

I just got a 2 double mixed cds of jazz entitled "Baby its cold outside."  Its fabulous!   Plus classical music (while I'm writing - can't play anything with lyrics while I work or I just sing / croak along  ::) and do NO work!) Also Adele 19 and 21 at the moment.

I'm a singer/songwriter kind of girl most of the time.  But, I like something with a little soul added to it, too.  My favorites are David Gray, Amos Lee & a new one (to me anyway) I heard on Pandora this week was the album Between Earth & Sky (Celtic) by Robin Bullock.   Good music is such a soother of the soul.   :)

Good choice Georgia, I too like Pandora a lot, but I'm nutty about Celtic music anyways. :D

Smokey & The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, The Marvelettes, Mary Well, The Temptations etc.

What are some of  your favorite songs?

I made a Road CD to play when I driving distances.  It's oldies that I can sing along to until I'm hoarse (not so long these days).  It includes, Lovin' Spoonful, Beatles, Aretha, Jimmy Cliff, Bonnie Raitt, Dan Hicks, Mamas and the Papas, Otis Redding, and Bob Dylan.

I also have been listening to a little Buble along with Eliza Doolittle and Norah Jones. I must say that i am a bit over the Christmas music.

Awww Sooki, take out Bob Dylan (one of the few artists I just could never get into) and that would be an outstanding CD!

Duchess, I love Stevie! His song "Superwoman" is one of my faves. I love the whole "Music of My Mind" album. But I think "Innervisions" was his best.

Speaking of Motown, I also love Edwin Starr -- especially the song "25 Miles From Home." I sing that on my way home from work about every day --- C'mon feet, don't fail me now!   8)  It makes me laugh and dance in the car -- I'm sure those around me in the traffic think I'm nuts!

This past weekend I watched "The Big Chill" and was treated to some great old tunes, not to mention cute ol' Kevin Kline.

Alright now! I can just hear us all singing. We are dancing and snapping our fingers and groovin' to the beat.

Doesn't that just take you away. You forget about your aches and pains for a while. Music is very good therapy.

A66eyroad, I think that "Innervisions" was his best. He went deep into in mind and soul.

My all time favorite is the crooner extraordinaire, Smokey Robinson!

I love the old Motown; the Temptations, Smokey Robinson.  Aretha!  ;)  The young man who first sang "Stand By Me"  Ben E. King...what an awesome voice; he died too young.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery songs have been running through my head as wake up songs that past few mornings. I do not know where the play list comes from. When I was younger it was one of the local radio stations. I could tell people what song was on the radio by what I heard playing. The oddity of it would fascinate people that knew me. I know that this happened to others.

Me too. It still happens. Something says TURN ON THE RADIO and there is the song that was in my head.
I am one of those people who cannot wear a watch for long without killing it; cell phones, laptops, everything sensitive to electrical goes haywire around me after a while. I think these 2 things are related. My Apache friend says I have magical energy and the uber-immune issues (nicer phrase than auto-immune I think) are also connected to this. It doesn't make any of it go away, but it's a more pleasant way to think of it.

What's also weird is I also have had an electromagnetic reaction to a few people... I'll be standing by someone and I can feel a charge in the air, like lightning is nearby.

I wonder about that. I can sometimes feel various energies when I walk into older houses. I lived in a house built in 1877, and there was an energy there--not a specific entitiy, just the residue of the generations that had lived there.  I feel that residue all the time. Sometimes I feel a little spark of something specific, but rarely can identify it. It's like a static electricity shock--PLINK!-- and then it's gone. I don't ever talk about it, why bother, not even with my husband of 35 years.

However.
In Tombstone, we went to dinner at this little place, a converted residence off the main street, and as soon as I walked in there I thought I felt...something. Like a little girl was peeking out at us, very very hard to explain, but similar to when you know your own child is hiding behind a door. You just know. I asked the owner if her place was on the Tombstone ghost tour, which I had not been on, and she said no, why? I told her, "It should be, there's someone here. A child. " My husband looked at me like I was nuts. I am NOT given to believing, much less voicing, something like that. The lady was interested, and said that several psychic types had told her the same thing.  She told me that sometimes the bell on the front desk gets dinged when no one's out there, and sometimes they hear light footsteps in the room that once was a small bedroom. My mouth opened up and said, "It feels like a girl." My husband  was speechless, but when she left to get our plates, he asked, "Where did THAT come from?" I shrugged and said, "I have no idea, it just  did." Then life went on as usual.

As I've been telling Joe S, I have a strong connection to some people, I can feel what is happening with them. My sons and one of my friends, primarily. The one friend is like a lightning rod. Sometimes  he makes the hair on my arms stand up--not like chills. Electromagnetic.  Weird.

I can feel vibes in older houses as well.  Sometimes it makes it hard to travel and stay in old motels.

One of my friends recently moved to an older log house on the water.  The first time I went to visit her and stood on the porch, I had a strong vision of lots of happy people wandering there - a porch swing - a pingpong table.  Excited, happy talk. I could hear and see the vision.  I asked her if the previous owner had entertained a lot.  She said no, but then later told me it had been a summer resort with little cabins all down the beach in the 1940s and 50s.  I told her they apparently enjoyed themselves there.

Isn't that cool? It's nice to have a connection with that part of the universe. I've never had a problem with traveling, though. That would  annoy me.

Only one other time did I pick up on a specific entitiy..again, a child. A very long story that stretches out across a century. If you are interested, I can message you about it.

Does anyone else block radio and TV stations when they are in pain?

This morning I woke to "Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket..." in Perry Como's voice. Who picks out the play list for morning wake up calls? ELP one day and Como the next? Arghhhhh.

Could be worse than ELP and Como, Joe. I don't want to plant any "ear worms" on you, though.   :o (Tiny Tim anyone???)

Sadly for me, I've had the same section of Cat Stevens' "Foreigner Suite" running through my head for THREE MONTHS. It's like my brain's default. It's really about to make me crazy. No matter what else I listen to, I find those few lines of music going through my head, all day every day from wake-up to sleep. I thought if I listened to the album all the way through and got to the end it might stop but no, it hasn't helped.

No wonder VanGogh cut his ear off.   :P  :-\

LOL, it certainly woke you up, didn't it? Maybe it's that jarring WTH??? they are counting on to get you out of bed.

I don't block signals when I'm in pain. But I find TV and radio sometimes makes me very agitated if I reach a high level of it. It's not about volume or lights/distraction. It makes the air too" busy," for want of a better description, and I can't concentrate on floating on the surface of the pain, to ride it out, like a wave. I know that sounds weird. It doesn't happen if I am listening to music on an IPod or CD player.

We have an all gospel station here in the Midwest. I love to listen to it at times. When I listen, I don't  have a care in the world. It is uplifting and rejuvenating.

God says that we are supposed to give all of our burdens to him, RIGHT!
I had to learn how to do that. In fact, I had to learn to be willing to do that. You know how it is sometimes, we think we can handle it all ourselves. NOT!!

Anybody like listening to the old gospel quartet groups?
