Title: Anyone have non stop muscle twitching
Post by: SueD on December 06, 2011, 05:37:23 PM
Hi,

I'm new here.  I was just diagnosed after 3 years.  I was just wondering if anyone else has non stop muscle twitching all over.  Mine started a year ago and gets increasingly worse everyday.  Dr. says it's not related to Sjogrens and he doesn't know what is causing it.

Thanks for any help.

I have muscle twitching in my arms and legs but it is occasional and not non stop like you mention. Is your doctor willing to order any tests for you or refer you on to a different doctor? Possibly a neurologist?

I have had all the usual test, muscle biopsy, blood work, MRI's of brain.  These were all done by my neurologist. Nothing showed up until I was dignosed with Sjogren's.  I was hoping it has something to do with the twitching.

I joined this forum looking for information.  I seems like a wonderful place to get help understanding this disease.

Hi i have had muscle twitching all over for at least 6 years, at first it worried me and i saw a neurologist about it, and he wasnt concerned at all he just checked for muscle weakness  and everything was fine and he discharged me.

As i have had it so long it no longer worries me and i have learned to ignore it.

There is a condition called benign muscle fasculation syndrome where this symptom happens but it has no appenent cause.

Hi everyone, i have the muscle twitching too, in my legs mostly and it is very distracting.

I posted about it a while ago and a bunch of people said it was call Fasciculations ( sp?) not sure if I spelled that right. I went into wikipedia to looki it up and it seems to be associated with a lot of conditions, one of which is sjogrens. I asked my doctor sbout it and she did not seem too interested.

It does worry me sometimes though.

Sue,

You should see a neurologist to have it checked but it may be benign fasciculation syndrome as other have mentioned.  Here's the wiki article.

I have a confirmed muscle disease that are now saying is caused by my Sjogrens.. and I have lots and lots of twitching. One day I was having an emg and he needled the muscle that was twitching and he it was Benign...  I mentioned to the dr yesterday ( my post on undefined myopathy) and he wasn't the least bit worried about it... So I try not to worry about it..

I have polyneuropathy and I have fasciculations, mainly in my legs. My neuro said the twitching can be caused by Sjogren's via the neuropathy and irritated muscles. The twitching keeps me awake and it is very unnerving.

I hope you get some answers very soon.

Best,
Victoria

I have had this problem also. They put me on Neuronton but it made me sick at my stomach. My GP changed it to Horizant and boy does it help. I haven't had any problems with the twitching since.

I don't know if this is neuropothy or what.
love and prayers, harlin

Victoria is right.  All the twitching keeps me awake and is really unnerving.

Harlan, I too tried neurotin and just could not stand the way it made me feel.  I will look into Horizant.

Thanks everone for the feedback

Sue
