Got. Bronchitis again, last winter had a bout of it and it lasted 4 months.
I think I started antibiotic sooner. Today my chest really hurts. Any suggestions what I can do to speed up recovery.
I've had two rounds of bronchitis since September of this year :( Still on Biaxin for this last one plus I have pleurisy...not a fun combination!
If you develop any wheezing with your cough (like I did) I would see a doctor about getting a breathing treatment - they gave me xopenex/pulmicort at the urgent care clinic and for that one day, my cough was SO much better. It's coming back again unfortunately, but not as bad. I have a rescue inhaler but it doesn't work as well.
Sorry I don't have more useful advice - hope you feel better soon!
So sorry you are feeling so sick.
This year the respiratory flu is so much worse than last, apparently. People who have healthy bodies to begin with are taking 5 weeks to get over it, so it is understandable if us Sjoggies really struggle.
Is your rescue inhaler also Xopenex? That one works the very best for me. My doctor also prescribed a spacer with it, which allows you to get the mist deeper into the areas where it does the most good. Do you have a spacer?
Take care,
Genko
sorry to hear you are ill
if you find that the breathing treatments work well for you, ask your MD for a prescription for a nebulizer and the medication. Insurance should cover it.
hope you feel better soon!

Im sorry to hear you are sick. I have always taken a long time to get better from Bronchitis. So, I don't have any suggestions. But I would like to say I wish you better soon.

I use to get bronchitis all the time. Make sure to drink plenty of water to thin out the mucus in your lungs.
Also it helps along the way to drink some of the tussin type stuff over the counter. I can always tell a difference in getting some of the mucus to loosen up.
It seems like it takes forever to get it all out. I hope you get over this soon. My dad has been getting bronchitis a lot.

Thanks everyone!
I thought I was getting better, but I don't think so. My chest hurts and coughing feels like I am coughing up a lung.
Taking Levaquin and expectorant cough med, lots of water and in bed.

My inhaler is albuterol and it doesn't help. I do think I'm having a problem with not getting enough where it needs to go too. I will definitely ask about a different inhaler and spacer. After the breathing treatment I had at urgent care, I felt so much better for one day - hardly coughed at all. I wish they would just give me a nebulizer to use at night and then maybe I could actually become virtually cough free!
The newest therapy for bronochitis-especially in people like us--is to give a week or so of prednisone to reduce the inflammation in the lungs. This along with the inhalers and the antibiotic really helps to clear things up much faster. Good luck. Irish ;D

I will call tomorrow and see if I can get some, then maybe by appt o Tuesday I will feel better!
THANKS ALL!!!!! ;)
Definitely get the nebulizer. My daughter's inhaler was worthless. I hooked up the nebulizer and it makes a really big difference!

Well been on meds for a week, feeling better but if I move around to much I start coughing like crazy.
Still tired and a bit weak and so bored.
Go back to dr on Wednesday so we will see what he says.
Need to try and look for humidifier tomorrow, just seems like a chore. >:(
Well it is about time for bed, so sweet sleep my friends :)
