Dear everyone:

A very amazing thing happened. I went for my annual hearing exam, and my right ear has improved!

It has regained 'low end' hearing, almost all of it, and is on par with my left ear.

At the low end, my hearing is normal, not great but in the normal range.

At the high end, both ears have the same loss that drops off sharply.

The Otolaryngologist thinks this improvement may mean that my hearing loss is related to Meniere's disease.

I have the terrible ringing, and the sense of pressure in my ears, but I don't get the terrible vertigo of Meniere's. So I've always rather discounted that as a cause of my hearing loss.

I was sooo surprised. I still need hearing aids of course, but who would ever have thought that my hearing could improve?

Just wanted to share a good news story.

I have hearing loss at the low end too. It's worse in the left ear. They think it has something to with all the scars I have on my eardrum. These scars are from infection when I was a kid. I' m highly allergic to cedar and the yard I play in was full of them. We didn't know about my allergy back then. I'm really happy your; is improving-- that's so great.

Madison, I have hearing loss in one ear from scar tissue too, my doctor said surgery was the only option for that. I opted out for now.

Carolina, I am so happy for your hearing! That is great news :-)

Surgery would be one option I would not do. I had way too many already. I am just going to live with it and learn to adjust.

That's wonderful news, Carolina. I'm so happy for you. I think that most of us are grateful for even a small improvement in our health. Anyway, I am happy for you and pray that you continue to improve.

My hearing is not right but I haven't mentioned it to the doctor. Seems all I do is complain and that's not who I WAS!!! I am just not ready for another problem.
