im worried about them having ingredients that arent needed - one of the brands for omega has sodium lauryl sulfate and that is not good for Sjogrens - toothpaste soaps and shampoos have it and im avoiding those on my skin so i dont want that inside of me :/

I buy the generic things from Puritan's Pride.

I don't know if they are superior, but I'm hoping that doing such a huge business on line would lend itself to a sort of consistency of product.

The prices are very competitive.

You can read all the ingredients.

Keep us posted.

Hugs

Elaine

I like everything I've gotten from New Chapter and Now, and the omega 3 I take is called Ovega. I also have a Glucosamine supplement from VegLife I like (glucosamine, MSM, turmeric and hyaluronic acid).

I highly recommend Nordic Naturals for Omegas. It was recommended by doctors & I even saw it on Dr. Oz once because there aren't fillers.

I use  Klaire Labs probiotic & magnesium glycinate (other type of magnesium not good).

I also like Jarrow brand for other vitamins.

I know the brands I use are more expensive but I have many stomach issues & have not had any problems with the ones I mentioned.

Good luck in your search! Carie

I buy a lot of NEW CHAPTER and NOW also because I am gluten intolerant. Both are usually dairy and gluten free.

You can get both at Vitacost online... I think Swanson's has even more NOW than Vitacost.

I take a lot of supplements, that I usually purchase online. I've used Vitacost in the past, and bought the house brand, because it was cheapest. The Vitacost house brands were *not* effective, I discovered, when I learned more.

Vitacost does, I believe, sell Jarrow and Now brands, but not Doctor's Best (something like that).

I buy Jarrow, NOW, and Doctor's Best, usually from iHerb.com (use SIG531 for a $5 coupon discount on your first purchase), because they have low prices, lots of reviews, and shipping costs, with many shipping options. For each product they carry, they have full label information and full contents, at a very minimum, often more information, as well as reviews from customers.

NOTE: For any one supplement that is offered by both Doctor's Best and Jarrow, Doctor's Best is 15% to 20% less effective than the Jarrow supplement. NOW brand is hit or miss, both on price and effectiveness. Check the reviews on anything from NOW.

For a very few supplements I will buy more expensive brands/products, such folate with metafolin only, or a multi-B vitamin that uses and names methyl b-12 rather than the unnamed and potentially toxic cyanocobalamin that is commonly used.

Best,
Soycoffee

I have worked with Swanson's for years to get things to help me. Now that we have moved from Fargo/Moorhead and I can not just pop over to the store we have started mail order from various sources. I used to talk to them about new preparations and what they are used to treat.

I have to be careful on B vitamins. If they are extracted from Brewers yeast I tend to get a yeast infection that I have to kill. I try to read the labels before purchase.

Costco has some good prices on the brands that they sell. They also have discount prescriptions and you do not have to be a member to use the pharmacy.

My regimen is pretty inexpensive and it seems to be helping with pain and mouth/eye dryness.  After trying all expensive brands of Omegas out there I decided to go basic with Centrums new Pro Nutrients Omega 3 (small gel cap) with Bio Tears Oral Gel Caps which consist of Vits A, C, D, E B6, Magnesium, Black Current Seed Oil, Cod Liver Oil (providing more of the EPA and DHA's), Aloe Vera Oil and Tumeric (a great anti-inflammatory).  I take both pills with breakfast and dinner but in the morning I faithfully drink a bottle of Joint Juice (with Vitamins and all the Chondroiton/Glucosamine).
These three things plus a calcium pill or carmel seem to be keeping me in less pain and with a bit more moisture.  I was taking the Thera Tears Nutrition but with the high content of Vit E and without all the other great things I found in Bio Tears, I gave it up.  I've noticed an improvement faster with the Bio tears gel caps and most of all I'll never go a day without my joint juice.  The studies suggest that Chondroiton/Glucosamine does not help humans but I truly believe it's made my painful osteoarthritis "liveable" or should I say bearable!

I was reading an article on GMP (manufacturing processes) and it suggest that the model that is used in the supplement industry should be applied to pharmaceuticals of today to bring costs into a reasonable range.

The supplement manufacturers in the USA follow these guide lines. Check with your local provider to see if they also follow these guidelines.
