I miss reading books. I used to be able to read several books at a time. One on my bedside table; one in the living room; one at work; and one for appointments. Now I'm lucky to be able to read a couple of pages at a time of just one book. Blah...
Me too! I'm going to be in a hospital waiting room most of the day today. DH has surgery. I'm taking my book with me; but, as of late I don't get through even two pages before I have to stop. Sucks! :'(
I'm a fan of True Blood and am working my way through the Sookie Stackhouse series. I'm on book 4, but not making much progress lately.

It is not from Sjogrens but I miss being able to run, skip, walk fast, swim and scuba dive.
From Sjogrens I miss being out in the sun doing yard work and gardening. I used to go for long walks. I miss teaching and other work that I have done. "Of all the things that I have lost I miss my mind the most." The tests showed my memory loss was average for my age. That makes it a very dramatic loss for me. I used to be able to look at each page of a book or magazine, read the headlines, and then read them from my memory at my leisure. When I try that now my head ache can become disabling.

Best wishes for DH!!! I've read ALL the Sookie books save the last one. Love the books and LOVE the show!
I too miss being able to read with ease. SJS has taken away allot of things I enjoy doing. Such as playing with my Granddaughter and shopping. I used to shop all day with ease but now it's easier to shop on line or on the TV.
I miss having weekends. Nowadays all I do on Saturdays is sleep.
I miss karate. I miss jogging (never thought I'd say that). I miss the state fair. I miss shopping (never thought I'd say that either). I miss working in the garden all day. I miss visiting for hours.
I don't miss reading. I do it until my eye feel like they'll fall out. There is two things I love I can still do, read and watch tv/movies, and I'm not giving them up. I've read all the Sookie Stackhouse books. I thought they were great. I watch True Blood too. I love vampires, werewolves, zombies and aliens! There must be a lot more wrong with me other than the lupus, sjs and fibro! LOL!
Bloodless, have you watched The Walking Dead on AMC? It's a good one!!
I watch The Walking Dead. I usually don't like those types of TV shows. This one has really caught my eye. It's suspenseful but not too frightening. You never know what will happen next. Never thought Sophia was one of those in the barn.
I am new to this group and often think of the so many things that I miss since being sick. Seeing people everyday at school or work and feeling productive. I had a career and a busy social calendar. I too miss being able to read for hours or work on the computer without my eyes starting to hurt badly. And I also miss my energy -- days that were full of activity. Sometimes it is hard to be satisfied with the things that I am able to do now when they feel like just small bits of the old me.
Welcome ladybelle. So glad to have you join us. Look around the website because there's a lot of great info and a lot of great people!

I haven't watched the finale yet, but I had a feeling she was there cuz they couldn't find her. Im also thinking that the baby is Shane's. And the doctor holding them in the barn...i dont know but I'm watching it in a bit, after Homeland.
Thanks for the welcome Nara! I am glad to have found the site and to connect with others about sjogrens.

:D
I miss horseback riding. Both my mares are old and can't be ridden, and my health holds me back from taking riding lessons again. With the muscle weakness, I don't think it would be safe for me to ride.
I also kind of miss cooking. Just can't bear being on my feet for that long, and the chance of dropping/breaking things too.
And I miss having the energy to be able to handle a full course load in school. Miss being able to do yoga like I used to.
For those that like vampires/werewolves/etc, check out the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. One of my favorites.
Hi ladybelle,
Welcome to the site! ;) I hope you'll find lots of great info., some great people, and a huge amount of understanding and support.
Most all of us know exactly what you mean by sometimes being hard to be satisfied with the things we are able to do now opposed to how we could do things in the past. I think we all need to sort of "reinvent" ourselves to a point. It can take time and a lot of patience with ourselves.
Glad that you found us, and we look forward to hearing more from you! If you want, you could start your own topic and introduce yourself. More people will see that and welcome you.
Take care,
Melinda

I used to be able to read one book in a day no matter if it was 400 pages thick and I used to be able to lie on my stomach and lean on my elbows while doing it.
I miss the elbow thing the most I think. :o
I miss being able to draw and paint without my hands forcing me to stop halfway or even sooner.
I miss being able to walk for 4h's and only getting a bit swollen feet, instead of walking for 4min and getting swollen everything.
I miss singing, I used to do it all the time. :'(
ah, the drawing and sketching is what I miss too. Hadn't thought of it cuz I hadn't been able to do it in sooooo long! I used to sing too - alto and tenor. I could even do the bass part on some songs. My nickname as a child was Greta (as in Garbo). ;D

I was a soprano, but people always placed me with the alto's in choirs just because of my voice when talking sounding so low.
So super regret not doing more singing after finding out what I was actually supposed to sing.
Had to write 5 Xmas cards and it took me 2 days to complete them, hands refused to do more than one at a time and needed several hours in between.
They don't do pens fat enough for my fingers to be happy with. :-\
