I have been taking an analog of Carbamazepine for several years. Oxcarbazepine is marketed as Trileptal In September 2010, Novartis pleaded guilty of marketing Trileptal for the unapproved uses of neuropathic pain and bipolar disorder during 2000 and 2001.
It is the drug I've just spent three months taking myself off of because it is associated with severely depressed Immune factors (IgG) which I have recently developed, much to my shock!
Now I have found that its parent drug increases heart disease, and I rather imagine that Trileptal may also increase heart disease.
My heart disease has increased dramatically, with atherosclerosis of my aortic arch and aortic valve, enlargement of my heart and a dysfunction of heart beat.
I NEVER thought I needed to take this drug to begin with, but since my new psychiatrist at the time was so sure it would 'help' me, I thought 'why not'. Now I know.
Sigh.

Honestly, confused,
I don't think most of the doctors know.
They meet with the drug detailers (reps) and know what they're told.
AND these are side effects that only show up easily with sophisticated testing.
Not the kind patients report in drug trials.
