Title: Got my plugs in today — also have Meibomitis?
Post by: QueenV on November 21, 2011, 01:40:46 PM
My eyes are still dilated, so forgive any typos. I got my punctal plugs put in today and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they help.

I was also diagnosed with Meibomitis, an infection of the oil glands of the eyes. I have to take Zithromax every other day for 3 months. Does anyone know if Meibomitis is related to SJS, or is it just a coincidence?

Hope you're all having a moisture filled day!

Hi QueenV,

I certainly hope the plugs you received today will help. :) I'm sorry I don't know much about Meibomitis, so I'll be doing some research on that one.

I'll respond again when I find something of interest for you.

Hope your eyes are feeling alright tonight.
Take care and keep us updated, ok?
Melinda

Warm compresses help to melt the lipids that are plugging the gland.

Thanks Melinda and Joe. I don't see that there's any connection between Sjogren's and Meibomitis. I think it's just coincidence, but it certainly doesn't help with eye dryness.

Joe, thanks! I'm using warm compresses and light massage on my eyes. The ophthomologist also recommended it. I seem to have more moisture in my left eye and that's certainly a bonus!

Do not burn yourself like others have done.
