Title: Savella?
Post by: mshistory on November 17, 2011, 07:20:49 PM
I saw my rheumy today and told him how bad my fatigue has been - he recommended I try a low dose of Savella to see if it helps. It's apparently a new medicine that's also used to treat fibromyalgia. Because I'm on an SSRI, I am only going to take the smallest dose (12.5 mg) of the Savella - I hope hope hope it helps with the fatigue because it's so overwhelming. Has anyone tried it? Did it help with your fatigue?

He also thinks my chest pain I've mentioned before is probably pleurisy...which I kind of suspected all along, so I'm going to try naproxen to see if that helps, but will still have all the pulmonary testing next month.

I also have to quit the spironalactone I was taking to try to help with my hair loss - it's just causing my dry eyes and dry mouth to get so much worse  :(

Hi mshistory,

I've been on Savella for almost 2 years.  I believe it was released on the market in early 2009, being one of the three approved meds for Fibromyalgia: Cymbalta, Lyrica and Savella. I take the maximum dose of 200 mgs. per day.

I can say that it has helped my fatigue quite a bit. It's also helped my strength overall.  Gone is the awful stabbing, tingling pain I'd get through my back and torso. That would put me in tears, so it's a blessing to no longer have that!

Most days I still have some fatigue, but it's much less with the combination of Plaquenil and Savella. I really hope it helps you.  ;)
Take care,
Melinda

I tried Savella for a short time for pain and fatigue.  I also take a lot of other meds.  The Savella didn't seem to help me so I stopped it after awhile.  Lu y

Savella helped my neoropathy pain a lot and also my cognitive function however it made me sweat so bad it felt like my brain was on fire. Had to quit taking it. I literally dripped with sweat.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I'm not sure how much it will help since I can only take the lowest dose, but any relief from this fatigue would be so welcome!

Tried it. No use whatsoever to me.
