My Primary Doctor (who I absolutely LOVE) after about 23 years is now teaching so when I need to get in I don't see him ...I see an asscoiate, so I have decided to move on. Anyhow, went for my 6 month diabetic checkup to start our as a new patient. She seems very nice and thouroug.
Anyhoo.....I told her I was having some pains in the side of my neck....didn't feel like parotid pain, or thyroid , after examination she said that I have a muscle spasm and perscribed muscle relaxers. Has anyone had spasms with SS? I know my legs sometimes get crampy and spasm but never in the neck. Can't remember pulling it out of place either.
The appointment was on Tuesday, last night we were coming home from a funeral and we hit a deer on the turnpike, the impact was on my side and I am pretty darn stiff today..! The car had to get towed, had to call someone to pick us up, just a real mess! I am totally thankful though that now other vehicles were involved since there were alot of trucks whizzing by, when we hit that deer in the center lane going 65mph! Pisser was the car was JUST paid off about 3 weeks ago! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Use your insurance to fund PT for your neck!
Diane,
Good grief! Are you and everyone who was in the car ok?? Here you're telling of neck spasms and you're in an accident. And the poor car.... :(
I'm glad you like the new associate doctor, and they are treating you. I never thought about spasms until lately. I'll do something like just turn my torso and all of sudden have a muscle jump/pain in my side or sometimes if I turn my head it's in my neck. Ugh...
I'm hoping you've called the doc back today after the accident or thought about getting checked out. ??
Take care of yourself!
Melinda
Hi Diane :)
I've suffered muscle spasms in both my neck and upper back. The back one was bad enough to need some time off work because I simply couldn't drive.
Physio can be useful and so can NSAIDs (which i'm not meant to take but will resort to for muscle spasms!) Heat helps and I also find a tens machine useful.
Take care - Scottie :)
PS - I hope you feel better soon after the car incident.
Very sorry to hear about the accident! You were indeed lucky! And so was my husband about 1 1/2 yrs ago. He hit a deer while driving 65 mph too. ( the car was only 9 mo old!) .. He swerved and went into the other lane (no cars there, whew!) .. and ended up in a grassy/rocky median. Had $4000 in damage to the car. No damages to hubby! Never found the deer... have a feeling he didn't make it.
Arghhhh Diane!
Hitting a deer is terrifying. So lucky other cars didn't get involved.
They are really a bigger hazard than pigeons or raccoons any day!
The thing with the neck is that it can happen while you're sleeping, at a least it does for me, and there's no way to know what actually causes it.
At least your doctor listened.
Is your car totaled?
Yeah, having a car paid for is wonderful. Having a car wrecked is so awful.
It's always something.
Hugs
Keep us posted on what happens.
Elaine
I had a turkey come through my widshield one time,, doing about 50,, what a mess,, it was like hitting a bowling ball
Yes your insurance should cover at least some of the medical from the accident.
Sorry to hear about hitting the deer. I heard a rumor thought that here in Iowa we were #1 in auto deer accidents. You trying to beat us? ;D ;)
Course we can get other problems here. We just lately had someone hit a horse in the am that totaled their car and needed the jaws of life to get em out. Not seriously hurt but the horse didn't make it. And depending where you are at, you can get kamakatzi pheasants scare and fly direct in the windshield. Ah Nature!!!
