Title: Guns
Post by: ttdub on October 21, 2011, 11:35:49 AM
Is anyone here into guns? Just curious. I love them, and I just wanted to see if anyone shared my enthusiasm.

Hi  :)

Lots of people in here talk about their hobbies from time to time - and that's fine.

I'm worried that this thread could turn into pro-gun and anti-gun but I hope it doesn't. Please tell me if I'm wrong but isn't it true that in the US guns can be quite a political issue?

In the UK they are not political. Basically very few people have them and there is no appetite for more people to have them.

Take care - Scottie  :)

A VERY political issue.  I have them but I stay so far out of the club that promotes them.  I totally agree with you.  Hey!!!  I've got fudge brownies with cherries baking in the oven!!  Carmel with Baileys Irish Cream and hot fudge brownies...oh yeah!!

It is political, but I beg you guys not to go there. I like military weapons. I feel there are good points to both sides (and I have read up on both). If you are pro gun, please don't reference to anything political, but explain about your hobby instead. If you are anti-gun, I understand your points, but please don't call anyone stupid or really anything please. This is more of a if you are into guns, post about your guns, if not, don't. And I'm not trying to be mean to anyone, I just don't want some flame war to develop.

ttdub,

If you know this topic is political, and will offend and polarize the members of this board, then why would you post it?

Growing up in Pennsylvania and watching all my relatives hunt it was natural for me to have guns and still do,, I have two sons that hunt so we have our share of weapons,, ya I know people who have a love hate type of thing with guns, and I respect anyone who doesnt care for them,, but I am happy to see that there are some that do like them
I cant use mine much anymore, my arms cant take the recoil,, and i have a hard time carrying them during deer or turkey season,, so for the last two years my oldest son has been carrying my gear to my stand and not venturing to far away,, but I am noticing I cant take anykind of cold anymore,, so its looking like my hunting days are about over,,

Ido have on my wish list a M1 Garand,, it will be the last gun I buy,, I have enough thats for sure,, just remember folks,, to some of us,, guns are a hobby,,, we like them we like to shoot them,,, and like to be around like minded people,, were not all made the same,, and thats good ;)

Okay, it was not meant to offend. Im an atheist, yet people post things about prayer and that's the most debated topic in America, yet I don't whine about it. I'm so sick of everyone being constantly offended over everything. Grow up people. It's obvious I wasn't trying to offend.

Hey still in the hunt. I'm sorry things are getting worse for you. Have you tried range shooting? Like indoors, so when you have a good day, you can go there and still shoot?

No,, indoor ranges are far and inbetween around here,, I made a small shooting range in hte woods across the street from my house, we use it mostly for sighting in scopes and shooting a few rounds before deer season opens, me and my son got out for a few hours yesterday,, he got a few squirrel and I didnt see any deer,, I was using the crossbow,

I'm not a collector.  However, I can certainly appreciate their beauty.  My father had a shotgun that I have always admired.  It has a ventilated rib and beautiful detail on the stock.

I made sure my siblings knew that upon my father's passing that gun was mine.  I'm sorry to say, I now have it.

My best friend in the service was my Matty Matel as long as I kept her clean and dry I hit my target every time. Good for sharp shooter award. Silver dollar pattern on full auto. Other than that I have no love for guns of any type.

As a youth I could hit the bulls eye at 300 yards with a 50lb bow. I was used to a 75lb bow. My family had a policy that you had to eat what you killed so I tried not to kill anything. Fishing was turned from catch and release into watching.

Gun collecting can be a good investment.
