Last week saw the Id doctor who was in tears when she saw how bad I am, shes a very nice young lady who was just shocked at my apperance and how no one took any of the infections seriously, she said no more antibiotics and pushed through IVIG the next day, friday I had to get infused and see the Neuro, i have no pinprick sensations almost anywhere onmy body,, and she prescribed Depakote, looking it up its for manic depression, i dont think i want to take that,,
My cobra has now run out, and i have to see my PCP today if Ihave any chance of getting into the hospital before I cant walk at all, I still am convinced there is something wrong with my spine, i just keep losing more and more control over bowel and bladder along with arm and leg numbness,, but again,, he;ll toss more pills at me, but I see a showdown today,
The choking continues and the thick jello like stuff clogs my throat minute by minute, again I know I have some psinal compression going on,, it starts as soon as i stand up,, looking over my old MRI reports it even says there is some compression of the cord,,
I only got 30 grams of IVIG, but I guess thats better then nothing, I feel more dead then alive,, this losing the ability to walk is getting scray,, my hands have been geetting really cold lately,
But My bowels are realy a mess,, I never know when I will need to go to the bathroom,, and the phantom feelings inand around the groin area are concerning,,
but when I go to the bathroom and have to strain, the goo starts pouring ut of my mouth,
where all this is going I have no idea, life is slipping by, and I have been complient with going to the doctors,, but I should not have been driving last week,, but no one would take me, but like I said I thnk today is going to be a showdown,, no more pills,, NONE, the ones they give me do nothing,, and they need to get on teh ball,, but now that I have lost my good insurance,, and hospital stay is going to ruin us financially,, so I hope there happy now,,hope everyone is doing ok

I'm sure I've seen that drug name in here before - "Depakote" - but I don't remember it in connection with bi-polar. Some drugs have dual uses. Did she say it was for manic depression when she suggested it?
I know I was prescribed Amitripyline for nerve pain but that is not what it says it is for if one searches it. Some meds have more than one use.
Your new doc sounds like a keeper. Welcome back again.

Depakote is also used to treat seizure disorders, so as Scottie said, many medications have several uses.
No,, she never said it was for manic depression, actually she never said what it was supposed to be for, only to call her if thins got worse, and they are,, lot of family tension going on,, the just refuse to see me slipping further down the rabbit hole
Welcome back. I hope and pray that you can find a way to reverse these symptoms. Please look up the side effects of the drugs that you are taking and try to separate them from the other symptoms that you are experiencing. Try to have a list of these to take with you to the doctor.
The drug Depakote can be given for seizure disorders. My daughter has taken it for 20 years. I realize it's given for lots of things, but it controls her seizures and no side effects.
Depakote is used for seizures, not sure about bipolar BUT it is also used for neuropathies and has been for many years. Please give it a try. Glad to see you posting again but sorry things are still so tough. It does sound like you have found a compassionate doctor and that the neuro recognizes your difficulties. I would follow through on their recommendations. You are wanting a miracle which will not come, but perhaps finally they are taking you sriously and offering what they can.

I hope you get some relief from the med changes. I was looking on the Depakote website and if you end up taking the brand name there is a $75 coupon / co-pay deal.

My first neuro prescribed Depakote (anticonvulsant) for me at 1500 mg because I had 'seizure like' brain activity in every page of my EEG.
i couldn't get out of bed, had never had a seizure and was already TAKING an anti seizure drug for possible bipolar disease when I had the EEG.
I stopped after a week. Now I'm coming off the other anticonvulsant (Trileptal) since it can cause very low IgG numbers on blood work, which I have been having.
What is the Id doctor? I don't know Id?
I have become more and more convinced that my neuropathy is caused by the antibiotic I took for 2.5 years.
It won't go away but it shouldn't get any worse
You however, are just spiraling down, sir.

It sounds very positive that you've found a doctor who is caring and is trying to work with you. She sounds like a keeper! ;)
I know at times they may prescribe something that we think won't help, but as said before, Depakote (as with other meds) can have many different uses. If you choose to give it a try, you might want to look at the website Rx Outreach; there are lower-priced meds there. It's Better Business Bureau approved, the drugs don't come from outside the US and they have great service.

saw PCP today,, not a very good visit,, he just threw more pills at me, now its obana, some sort of morphine,, soI take it and have lost my mind,, I feel like i;m going to throw up,, cant make any saliva, and my body wont move,, theyjust keep messing around, sent me for more xrays of my spine,, reading when not to take this drug,, any pparalysis of the stomach,, i know they mean well,, but there just covering symptoms with more drugs,, oh well,, just more fuel on the fire,
