Title: UK TV Doc Martin
Post by: divingdancer on September 19, 2011, 02:06:58 PM
Did anyone in the UK see the program tonight.  The Doc's aunt was dx'd with Sjogrens.   Of course, any of us watching will have sussed it out by the second break for ads.

At least it gave some nationwide coverage for the condition.    Initially, she thought she had Lupus and was dying but it turned out she had self-diagnosed and the Doc told her it was Sjogren's.  Only downside was that they only mentioned the dry eyes and dry mouth and some peripheral nerve damage.  BUT, a step forward.

the above is the link to itvplayer for anyone who can download it to watch.  It is available for 30 days from 19th September.   :)

Hi,

Just tried, you have to be in the UK to view it.  Too bad, would have liked to have seen it.

Thanks,

Shade

I love Auntie Joan, she's so matter of fact! You don't happen to know the episode title do you? The series isn't on regularly here (Canada) but some stations seem to run it once a week for 8-10 weeks, and I might get a chance to see it.

I know Vision TV in Canada used to show Doc Martin, but I see it isn't in its schedule right now.  Too bad.

Love Doc Martin!  I ran across it accidentally while checking my PBS station and fell in love with the show.  I have seen through season 3 and am on the waiting list at my library for the 4th season.  It is a great show, and I can't wait to see the episode on Sjogren's.

Yes, I saw it. That programme guarantees me a good belly laugh - he's sooo funny. I'm not sure I would like him for my doctor though.

Auntie Jean has passed away, and this auntie is a psychiatrist from London. She deals with the criminally insane in a prison, and has as few social skills as Doc Martin. I wondered about SJS as soon as I saw her: she has really red rimmed eyes, and her skins looks very dry.

I was a bit disappointed that he treated Sjogren's so lightly, but at least the programme highlighted it, and will raise some awareness.

I'm looking forward to how this story goes.

Well, I happened upon Doc Martin last night, playing on the Detroit PBS station.  And I really enjoyed it!  ;D

Thank you for bringing it to my attention.  It looks like the episodes were recorded two years ago so it will be a while before I see the Sjogren's episode.

I noticed that Craig Ferguson that talk show host wrote or starred in some episodes of Doc Martin... btw.  Listed as the latest season!
