Title: Praying for good health
Post by: Diane54 on September 09, 2011, 07:00:24 AM
My son is getting married on the 17th of September. So far I have had a few infections and tooth problems,,,,I haven't had a flare in about 2 months. I am praying that I can get through the next 8 days so I can enjoy my sons wedding. I am not one to ask for prayers from others but I certainly can use all the help I can get!

Do you have to do a lot of work to prepare for the wedding?  Will pray.

I will keep you on my prayer list.

Now, if you could just find someone who could dress you and do all the prep the stress would be much less. lol

Even when we are the mother of the groom there is still stress. Hubby and I married off 3 boys and after all of the weddings I needed to go on a Medrol pack, stay in bed for three days and take off work.

Hoping for the best for you, but plan ahead cause there is still stress. The noise and fun at the reception is even stress but I just went ahead and had fun and suffered later. I don't drink but danced a lot at 2 of the weddings and had some fun. Next day could hardly get out of bed.

Like I said, prayers will be said, but have fun and plan ahead. Hugs to you. Irish ;D

So far everything is under control. Thankfully my future daughter in law is an event planner so she was on top of everything...I just had to write out a few checks.....We are hosting the rehersal dinner and everything at the resturant is planned accordingly. I need to get my hair colored, trimmed, nails, pedicure next week. My only fear is that I take terrible pictures.....TERRIBLE! I think we should have stand ins for those  :P....LLOL! I can feel just the stress coming on even though everything is under control! I asked for no overnight guests the night before....sounds selfish but we are willing to pay for a hotel stay just to eleviate any undo stress of taking care of guests. My husband is on vacation starting Thursday the 15th into the following week so if I am down and out he will be here to pick up the slack. I am excited about the wedding but can't help but wish it were over right now! Thanks for all the support on the board!

Diane

I so understand how you feel. Our youngest was married in Cyprus 3 months ago, and I was worried sick that the four hour flight and all the planning would wipe me out. However, I think the adrenaline kicked in, and we had a wonderful time. I hit the deck after we arrrived home, but it was well worth it.

You are in my prayers. I would love to see some pictured afterwards.

Both of our daughters have married in the last three years & I understand your concern. My rheum. offered a very short course of prednisone for the days of celebration----it got me through & it was all so much fun. Best wishes to you and your family!!

Diane,

Sounds as if you're doing the best you can keeping the stress low in anticipation of the big festivites.  I know that's hard to do!  And I understand totally how we look forward to something so much, and still worry that we will be a wreck afterwards.  :P  That's a very good idea not planning on overnight guests.  Not selfish at all!

Knowing things are well-planned seems to help.  I hope you might be able to rest up a bit before hand and try not to worry too much.  Have a good time and enjoy! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thinking of you every morning.  I take awful pictures, too.  But, after 3 weddings, I realized that 1) everyone is either looking at themselves or the bride and groom, and  2) the pics, with the exception of the bride and groom, go in a book and are seen very seldom.  But someday, when we're gone, they won't be looking at them and judging the actual picture - they'll be remembering the person you were.  At least, that's what I think about when I look at my dad's picture hanging on the wall.

The day will come and it will go.  Do your best to capture the good memories.
