Hi All
When the news of Venus broke I fowarded a couple of sites to a very good friend who has been with me from day one on my Sjrogens journey.
I would like to share with you her reply.
Aren't you in good company, hey?
Thanks for sending me those sites. Found it all most interesting -
Tell you what I thought though - if I had to play this game of cards then deal me the 'mild' one!
I know you haven't been given a choice with this, and it's like walking through a minefield with your eyes closed not knowing what the next step will bring. But it's your life. And it's how you walk in it that shows those closest to you that life is not to be feared - its to be lived, with grace and dignity. Remember, if your health hadn't taken this turn, you'd still be at work, not taking art classes, not minding your grand-children, not enjoying your kitchen. Treat those good things of your life as gifts given to you. And treat your health as an adventure - by being still and listening within yourself, being stretched to personal boundaries you didn't even know existed, grappling with new challenges, its where other people dwell. It's called 'life' and it's our 'world'. The so called normal/average people are the ones who waste away in their "sheltered workshops", their fears keeping them prisoners.
Just remember your my friend and I love you. And you matter to all the people you've made contact with who share show-grins with you.
Thankyou All
Cheryl
You have a lovely friend, smallfry. ;D
Smallfry, your friend is a treasure, and so insightful! I love her whole letter, but one line in particular
QuoteBut it's your life. And it's how you walk in it that shows those closest to you that life is not to be feared - its to be lived, with grace and dignity
Please, thank her on my behalf, and probably for many others here. She would be most welcome to have a look at this site, too, if she is curious about the disease.
smallfry,
Thank you so much for sharing your friend's encouraging words with us! What a wonderful, dear friend she must be. ;) I also love all that she said. Please tell her that her understanding means so much to so many of us.
Have a good day,
Melinda
So here I am sitting at my desk in the middle of a busy brokerage office crying my eyeballs out and honking at my nose...
I'm so glad you shared that with us all. You have a lovely friend, and you must also BE a lovely friend. Thank you!
smallfry - what a beautiful note your friend sent you! :)
I like what she said - I might just print that out and keep a copy for myself. ;)
You're fortunate you have such a caring and thoughtful friend. As the saying goes, "in order to have a friend, you have to be a friend" . . . what a treasured friendship. (this is where we need a "heart" icon)

Thankyou for your wonderful replies.
I do intend to visit her this week with a bunch of flowers, and to let her know that she has been a constant tower of strength and support for me.
I am extremely blessed to have such a wonderful person like her in my life.
I will be showing her this wonderful place that I find so much refuge and understanding in.
Hugs all round
Cheryl
Cheryl,
That's wonderful that you'll be able to visit with your friend. I know what you mean about feeling blessed for the wonderful people in our lives. They are so special, and it's great to be able to tell them so. ;)
Have a great time together!
I'm another one hoking my nose! What a wonderful friend she is to you.
