Title: The Neck
Post by: really? on August 20, 2011, 12:03:58 PM
I am convinced that a lot of my problems with walking arm pain and GI issues are related to soemthing going onin my neck,, I have told them about it,, but it seems to fall on deaf ears,, as soon as i stand up,, my neck will go nuts,, then it goes body wide,, I was looking at the MRI report I had from mayo when they did my cervical spine,, its more screwed up then I thought, it said a chronic  degenerative problem,, ended with ,, there is minimal compression of the spinal canal,, now how do people miss this stuff, I have told the neuros that I see back here about it,, in fact I am supposed to see her Wednesday,, while talking to her nurse,, I told her,, look,, let me get the MRI on my cervical spine and that way she will have the report when I see her,, Dr. said no,, wants to see me first,, its not shes paying for it,, I just dont understand things

really, It is very possible that a lot of your stuff that is going on is related to your brain cord problem issue or whatever it was that you had surgery for. I had researched on it back then and it sure could present with future problems the way I had understood.

As I remember several of us on the site had encouraged you to go back and be reassessed at the clinic where you had your surgery. Chiari-- I believe that is the name of the problem. Irish :D

Can you go back to the Neurosurgeon who did your first surgery? or go to another neurosurgeon for a second opinion?  Get copies of your records from the first neurosurgeon if you can, it is good that you have the scans/reports of your C-spine, bring them with you to your appt.

I have treated kids with Chiari malformation that have had to have more than 1 surgery, sometimes it takes a series to get it corrected completely.  How long ago was your surgery and last follow-up with the Neurosurgeon?

I had the surgery in August of 09,, since the symptoms have continued, the neuros and neurosurgeons have both done MRIS,, I had one just two weeks ago,, it showed that the area is still well decompressed, with alot of opening for spinal fluid, but I do think some ofit is from the cervical spine,, Mayo did get that part right,, and it has become more of a problem since my visit out there,,
Today the glands have been really bad,, I cant eat a thing now without gagging on that stuff coming out of them,, worse is at night or actualy when I get up,, everything starts to drain,, and God its horrible,, just this God awefull thick stuff from teh sinuses and glands,, my wife says,, well Monday that will be all fixed,, HUH,, are you kidding me,, ?,, you tell me how geting a few things cleaned out is going to stop or reverse the destruction allready done,, even just walking brings on the thick mess,, now my lips go dry,, both ears are completely plugged,, oh well,, but I have consulted the neurosurgeons and the neuros,, I dont think theres a problem with the Chiari,, other then hte fact I had it done when I probably didnt need to int eh first place,, only left me with abig scar and few hours away from death with bacterial menigitis,, but thats in the past,, and the damage is done,,
