I was rear-ended last Saturday while sitting at a stop light. Not a very hard hit but did dent and scuff up my rear bumper a bit and knocked us forward a little bit. I started getting some right leg pins and needles later that night (I had back surgery in November (lumbar fusion)) and have had some muscle soreness in my back that is gradually getting better. The pins and needles are better, but I still have a little numbness in my big toe. I know I should probably go back to see the Ortho just to make sure everything is OK, but I really don't want to, I don't want to go through more therapy and don't want to find out something from the surgery was "undone" from that little bump in the car. It is getting better, but in my mind I had figured if it was better in a week I wouldn't go back, it is almost a week, and I am still having some numbness and back pain (not terrible, but not painfree either)....Should I give my doctor a call and try to get in next week?
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
I would call and talk or leave a message with the nurse. Explain everything and maybe she can either put your mind at ease or have you come in to have things checked out. Its friday and if something is wrong it would be best to know before a weekend and the office is closed.
Keep us posted, and I hope it turns out that nothing is wrong.
Nancy - sorry about the rear-end collision. :( I would call the doctors office and explain the situation. The person who hit you should be responsible for any medical bills you have that developed (re-occurred) due to the accident. It seems that the force of being hit and throwing you forward could have aggravated your surgery you had in November.
I would get it checked out if I were you.
Hope you feel better.
