Thera Tears has eye drops that claim to be "Preservative Free in the Eye". It is a bottle and not individual vials and on the box it claims that the preservative that they have patented turns to pure oxygen when it hits your eyeball.
I was just wondering if anyone's doctor has recommended them, it would be nice to be able to carry the bottle with me and not have to mess with the little vials.

I had to research this claim a bit, since I'd never heard of it. The Thera Tears website claims that the lubricant eye drops in a bottle is made with a "patented preservative that disappears on eye contact".
I can understand the convenience of using this instead of vials. In my humble opinion, it would be best to ask your doctor what they would recommend that would be best for your case in particular. ;)

TheraTears didn't work well for me; instead, I use FreshKote and Dwelle drops---both in bottles--and with some sort of supposedly light-duty preservative. FreshKote is by prescription and Dwelle I order from dryeyezone. I've never had a problem with the drops and carry a bottle in my purse for months before it gets used up. I think you just have to try the types that come in bottles and see if your eyes can tolerate them. I guess it mostly depends on how often you have to put drops in your eyes. If it's every half hour, you probably should go with the vials. I'm fortunate enough to only have to use drops occasionally during the day

I only use this product for at least 10 years.Its super convenient and worked the very best for me.I tried them all believe.I used drops with perservatives and my eyes got so much worse.Switched to Theratears with the perservative that vanishes when you used.I have had no issues with them.Good luck.
Have used Thera Tears for years UNTIL just recently being told I have meibonian glandular dysfunction (MGD).
Am using Systane Balance, a new product on the market, along with the Thera Tears.
Folks, this all subjective. Some will like TheraTears, some will not. I have used TT as a basic eyedrop for some of the last 12 years. It has always done as well as any other OTC. You have to make a decision, ask your doc, or try the vials and the bottle with the disappearing preservative. I've never found any difference.
Like Calli, I have used some of the "Dr. Holly" drops, none of which are available any more. Dwelle is not being made the last I read DryEyeZone. FRESHKOTE is one of the original "Dr. Holly" drops, but with a new name=Freshkote. This is available by RX only from your eye dr. I did not like Freshkote by any name.
The more we write here on what drops "we" like best, the more it will confuse posters. Pick out a few names of ones we mention, ask your dr, or ask your pharmacist and then buy one and try it. Others experience cannot tell what yours will be. Restasis is by RX only like Freshkote and you'll have to have your dr write you a script.
*Don't let the name *Dr. Holly* throw you. You can always google it. It is the name of a PhD who formulated some excellent drops back a couple of decades ago. They never went to a large market because no big pharma would pick up the cost. Some of us were lucky a few years back when these were being made again on a limited basis. Unfortunely you just need to try out some of the different eye drops to find the set that works best for you.
I had one set of eye drops that I used that was fine for the eye - however, it did something to my skin around the eye. I looked like a raccoon, only the ring around my eyes was red and not black! Took me a few weeks to finally realize it was the eye drops causing the issue. Took me a few months to get things back to "normal" (plus the extra money for the extra visits to the eye doctor and to another eye doctor for consulting and additional advise). Guess I was lucky that I did not cause myself even more problems.
So that particular kind is on my - not for use for me list.
Best for me has been - Thera Tears during the day and Refresh PM at night.
But again- you need to figure out which ones work for you. None of us can tell you which ones will work the best for you.
As Lucy commented, of course, all of us will have our favorite drops that work best for us. Sometimes it takes a bit of trying different ones.
Calli, I'd not seen anyone else here mention FreshKote drops being used other than myself. My opthamologist gave me a script for them a year ago and I've used them ever since, 3x day. Those, along with my others in "the regime" seem to keep my eye inflammation under control.
But, again, everyone is different and like other things, what works for one, doesn't for another.
