Title: Feeling Alone and Blue.
Post by: sass on August 10, 2011, 04:33:24 PM
I am feeling so alone and depressed.  I feel like nobody in my life cares or cares to understand what I am going thru.  My entire body hurts so badly, esophagus and throat issues, sweating, high blood pressure, dizziness, too much to even address anymore.  Who can blame them?  Please don't tell me to go to yet another Doctor, they care less than anyone.
I feel like a bad joke that went wrong.  I have never been like this.  oh, what to do................no sass left

Hi Sass,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad and down in the dumps.  Maybe it would help to spend a day spoiling and pampering yourself.  Splurge, take time out doing whatever you like...eat ice cream, get a mani/pedi, get your hair done, watch a movie, read a book.  Whatever you want that makes you happy.

Take care of yourself and do something fun.

Shade

SASS please read "Feeling Good" by David Burns. It is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). The exercises in his book help me.

(((HUGS)))). I agree with Joe S - it might help to see a psychotherapist who can help you deal with these feelings. This autoimmune journey is depressing and oppressive sometimes so it's important to develop successful coping mechanisms.

Depression and grief are our constant companions on our auto immune journey. You have us on this forum to discuss things with. This journey can be very difficult and we all need help from time to time. It is much better to talk this out, keep a journal, look for all positive out comes.

I think everyone on this board can relate to how you are feeling. It, too, will pass. You'll have good days and bad days, but one thing i know - ALL of us here care about you. Please don't forget that. I'll say a prayer for you. That sass is in there somewhere!!

Darlin.. if ya happen to catch my post today your will see me talking about random bouts of crying that has hit me as of late.. I understand.. I want to scream.. Someone make me better so I can get back to my life.. The worst part for me is that I think I have been such a control freak mother and wife and kept us all moving in a forward direction that I crashed the whole train, not just me, but the entire family has lost their rocker.. Oh man reality check for me..

oh little back ground info.. my son lost his job while his wife was expecting #2 grand baby so everyone moved in with mom. I swear my kids forgot how to do laundry! And if i don't cook they eat waffles for dinner! and they have been doing that for about a month. My hubby works nights so he has no clue..

Oh your gonna love this.. I promise this will make you smile.. Last weekend the dishwasher stopped draining, washing machine tub stopped spinning and vacuum shot sparks a foot out the bottom before it made a crying sound and died.. and no one could figure out why I was sitting on the floor next to it holding it sobbing..  :o   Oh and this was to funny.. My 26, 22,19 year old son's had a sit down with Dad Sunday and told him if he makes mom cry again they are going to step in next time.. all the while I am thinking "and do what? even I can kick your butts, and don't tick him off I will need him when you all move out OF MY HOUSE"...  :)    I swear I was a walking James Taylor song..

So hope this lets you know your not alone in your bad day.. I think I might start start smoking again... because it's been one of those weeks.. Someone promised me this will pass.. ugh.. I don't care if it's meds, the disorder, or me.. this plain stinks.. I get you, I understand.. The depression aspects of this DX is horrid!!! This comes from someone who never experienced anything like it before.. Pain was one thing, being tired another... but the Blues there is almost no cure but the end of the day...  :-*

Well blessings to you love.. Keri

Dear sass,

I'm so sorry you're feeling so blue.  As others have said, I think we all go through these times.  The bad thing is that when you're in this dark place, it's hard to see the way out sometimes.  I know because I've been there a few times.  When we're in pain I think it just makes it all worse.

You have many Sjoggie friends here you can "talk" this out with, and please know that we all care!  Please keep posting and update us.  We all understand...and are with you in spirit.
Take care,
Melinda

It is Ok to be sad and blue, I just take  a day & cry it all out when no one is around.  It makes me feel better to release the sadness.

I also understand where you are coming from. Everyone on this board suffers from the blues at one time or another. The big thing is to make sure that you are not having something physical going on. Sometimes an infection can just drag us down big time.

Make sure that you get to your appointments and voice your complaints. Also, people with autoimmune need to make sure that they address their mental health. Almost everyone with autoimmune disease is on an antidepressant. People with chronic health issues are so stressed physically and mentally that their brains become chemically imbalanced.

THere is no shame in needing antidepressants and it helps with pain too. We deserve to be able to sleep and feel well emotionally. The other thing that we need to remember is that sjoggies are pretty much socially isolated due to the health issues that we suffer from.

It is very hard for us to have a social life as we can't endure long hours of much activity and even talking wears us out. I have to tell you that this summer has been very hard on me and I think it has been hard on all the people on this board. We are having a lot of people with increased symptoms and problems coping and I am one of them.

The one thing that saves me is to even go to the library or the grocery store. Even going to Walmart and walking around helps me. All of these activities are ones I can do alone and I can pace myself. I can also stop and have a few words with a sales clerk or even visit in the aisles with people. You would be amazed how just a couple of words uttered to another person can lead to a little verbal interchange that helps to boost our spirits.

When we sit home not feeling well it becomes a vicious circle and I am a victim like everyone else. I get so I can't stand myself some days and I don't even want to talk to anyone. What I really need to get cleaned up and get out of the house. Even a ride in the car or any little activity that is insignificant to others is a big deal to us.

Just this little bit of activity helps us to relate to our environment and with others. It helps our brains to get a new lease on life and look at colors around us that also cheer us up. Most things that can cheer us up don't cost much. Go sit on a park bench in the park (in the shade of course) and you will feel better. Maybe even volunteer an hour or 2 at some event in your area.

When we are sick we really do a job on ourselves cause we make our brain think we are not worthwhile and we are the only ones suffering. Not true!!!! We are one of many who are suffering and hopefully we can all find some way to improve our lives. I have been thinking lately of something that chronically ill people could get together and do that would make for a fun time. Anybody got any ideas. Even getting together to knit, crochet, talk, whatever, would be something that people could look forward to.

sass, I hope that you can get to feeling better about life and that you are able to access any health care that would help you in this qwest. Good luck and please keep on venting. Irish ;D

Dear Sass, I hope today is better for you. We deal with a lot. It takes its toll on us sometimes. You are cared about. We care.
I was feeling down the other day. And in so much pain. Nausea too. I finally broke down and cried. It actually helped me to start feeling a little better. I think the stress was making me feel worse.

Sass,
As said before, we understand.  I think irish gave such good advice again. I really relate to the quote here.  I get "tired of myself" too and realize I need to get out, or sometimes need a push.  I hadn't been out much for a couple days, and yesterday my MIL came over.  She said, let's go to dinner. I'm hungry.  We went, we enjoyed our meal and time together.  We talked to a family member who works at the restaurant.  We stopped at the grocery for her to get a few things.  We saw a friend from church and chatted.  It was nice.   ;)
If she hadn't come by, I probably would have sat at home, watching the news or figuring out what to clean up next if I had the energy.
Getting out with little interactions with the world helps us immensely.  I understand why my MIL does this.  She lives alone in the country and will "come to town" for errands sometimes 4 times a week.  She could do it all at once, but this way she sees this person or that one, talks to a store clerk, the guy at the gas station, etc. or comes by our house.  Good things to do for all of us.
