My left wrist is swollen and has been that way for a few weeks now. Im suspecting its a ganglion cyst or something. However, while I was at my sisters house for dinner my right arm started to swell. Its now starting to ache. Maybe something bit me and I was not aware, I don't know. Has anyone had any symptoms like this? If so, what was it?
Never heard of that being a sjogren's symptom or any other autoimmune response for that matter. Please see a doctor. It doesn't sound good at all.
Please make arrangements to have it checked out.
I have something similar with my R wrist. And it's my dominant hand. It's been going on for about 2 years. I've had physical therapy twice, been in a car wreck and sprained the wrist and had it casted ( hence the 2nd therapy) and had xrays. Finally 2 weeks ago, my PC did an MRI. It showed either a ganglion cyst or wrist effusion. He sent me to a hand surgeon/orthopedist. They did more xrays.
My wrist, hand, fingers, elbow, and lower arm swollen constantly and I'm in moderate to extreme pain most of the time. The surgeon said the MRI showed a build up of fluid around the joint of the wrist and he attributed it to the Fibromyalgia and Sjogren's Syndrome. He suggested an injection of cortisone but I'm allergic to the preservatives, so I got oral steroids. Today is day 2 and there is very little improvement in pain or swelling.
I hope this helps with maybe what you're going through. But please go be checked out and have further testing done. It could be any of a number of things.
Good luck! ;)
Hi Shevonne,
I'm sorry that you're having the pain and swelling in your wrist, I know that it must be miserable (have carpal tunnel in both wrists, but not as bad as yours though).
The only time I have a limb that swells is usually from a bug bite (very sensitive). Could you have been bitten and not known maybe?
Hang in there and I hope that you'll be able to see the doctor about it soon (don't forget to keep us updated, okay?).

Shevonne,
I'm sorry, too, that you're having such extreme pain with the swelling in your wrist. I really have no advice other than I hope you can plan on getting to your doctor to have it checked out and hopefully you can get some relief.
Please keep us updated on the findings.
Take care of yourself,
Melinda
@ Meld, the swelling was painless just annoying cause dont know what caused it. Saw the doctor and she just didn't have a clue with what was wrong with my wrist or my arm. She said that we will just keep an eye on it. Right now it has went down a lot on both. I wonder if there is some kind of infection only because Im just finishing a round of Diflucan for the good ole yeast and it has went down. Any thoughts? lol
Like they say,, it mightbe just one of those things,, I am still trying to figure out what one of those things are,, SIGH
