I'm in Eastern Iowa and we have a heat advisory here from Sunday through Wednesday. It isn't any too cool here today either. Odd for us cause we usually don't get that hot here. They are talking on the news of setting up cool places for people around the city and in the small towns in Iowa.
I guess I shouldn't really complain because my cousins in AZ had 105 degrees there. But it is dry heat there, not that that makes a difference that I know of.
I'm planning on staying inside with the AC either at home or work. Gues I will have to leave the AC on when I go to work too for my kitty crew. Glad I am on a budget plan for the elec but I may still have to be sitting down when I get the bill. ::)
I'm in Illinois and we have the same heat advisory as you mentioned. I do not do well with this heat and humidity...so I'm very glad I have AC at home, at work, and in my car for when I go in between places! :)

It was 105 in the sun today, I have been in ankle socks and shorts for two months now,, after getting a shower for the third time today I put a pair of jeans on,, what a mistake that was,, the fabric just tore at my skin,, just more fun with neuropathy,, sons came home and got the grass cut after I dragged the lawnmower out and started it,, not that I was going to cut it,, but had to embaress them into doing it when they saw me with heavy ski gloves on so I woulndt fel the vibrations of the mower,, of course my sister came over and asked if we could cut her grass since her husband is on the road driving truck,, I dont think so,, cut your own,, your quite capable of doing it,,
In southern Minnesota we had around 96 degrees today with a dew point of 80. Those dew points are just killers. I walked down to get the paper from the mailbox and the water was running out of my hair when I got back. Had my big sunglasses on and took a bottle of water. Told my hubby that if I didn't get back in a reasonable length of time to check and see if there was a big grease spot on the drive way. lol
I was to town on Friday PM for groceries. That was the day it rained 2 1/2 inches in one hour in the morning and then another one inch in the afternoon. Went for the paper today and doubt I will be getting out until I go to thoe pharmacy on Tuesday.
It is supposed to be in the high 90's the rest of the week. People think that MN is such a cold place to live---well it gets cold in the winter and can be unbelievably hot in the summer. I still think that we are having a different kind of heat than we used to. Seems like a lot higher dew points than we had years ago.
Like the rest of you I can't take the heat. We have to drive up to the U of M of Wednesday for my appt with the head of the ENT department. Lots of road construction. Yippee!! Please stay cool everyone and keep yourselves hydrated and safe. This heat is nothing to mess with. Also, please make sure to carry extra water with you whenever you go someplace. If you have car touble and have to sit in the heat waiting for help it could be very dangerous. Irish ;D

Yep . . . suppose to be hot, hot, hot here all week in Illinois. Ugh! This is the first time I recall the weather service issuing an "Excessive Heat Warning" for us - that lasts from now until Friday evening!! :o
They warn that "anyone spending significant amounts of time outdoors . . or involved in strenuous activity . . will be susceptible to serious and potentially life threatening heat illnesses." OK . . . that's warning enough for me to stay indoors in the AC. :D
Also, remember that children or pets left in car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes!
Heat stroke is a life threatening medical emergency . . . if you are in this situation, call 911.
Be careful everyone.

checked teh thermometer on the deck a while ago,, only 1PM and it reads 106,, but thats in teh sun,, I feel so bad for the guys that have to pave roads in this heat,, how do they do it day after day
If you are traveling, give yourself extra time to get there too. We have some 4 lanes in Iowa down to 2 lanes due to road buckling from the heat.
May you all have AC. I came home to a semi-cool house Monday 6:30pm, tried to turn on a light, nothing! Lost electricity in my area (ca 600 folks did) and didn't get it back until about 2am! Glad I have a nice cool finished basement. I piled up some bedding and slept on the floor there that night.
Do what you can to stay cool!
Hardest thing about this heat for me is the scalding I feel onmy skin,, especially when I walk across the blacktop int eh driveway,, I might as well be walkingonhot coals,, dam neuropathy,, cant tolerate cold,, and now the heat which I used to love,,, our downstairs is finished also,, and is like a meat locker,, I almost dread going down there,, its walking from hot to cold in 12 steps,, drives my body insane,, then hot clothese out of the dryer,, LOL,, my poor body,, gee I cant wait till it gets really bad,,
It's 12 noon here in Central Illinois and the temperature is 92 degrees with a heat index of 102 and climbing.
I feel bad for the guys who are here re-roofing our house. You couldn't pay me enough to do their job in the heat of the summer or cold of winter.

At 3 p.m. today here in eastern Kentucky we reached 96 degrees and a heat index of 115 because of high humidity. *Can you say "Heat Advisory"?

It was just horrible driving up to the cities on Tues afternoon. It was so darn hot and there was a lot of traffic. Our AC in the car froze up so we stopped at the fleet Farm store. Hubby sat in the car and ran the car and air on low to help defrost it. It took about 1/2 hour and then it was ok and we were on our way.
I, of course, ran in to the store to check out the bargains. Well, I guess the only place I can shop anymore is Walmart and our HYVee grocery store cause every place else is too spendy. Man, I thought Fleet Farm was high priced even with sales.
Today there is a breeze and the humidity is a tad lower but still terrible. We try not to use electricity unless necessary and I run dishwasher and wash clothes around midnight. By the time this hot weather is gone it will be time for school to start. Irish ;D
Looks like the heat dome is over us now, I;ve had the dog out a few times this morning, and its getting miserable allready,, I too feel for the people working outside,, I kow before I got sick this weather never really bothered me that much,, I actually loved it, walking at lucnh time when it was in the 90;s,, not going into air cond becasue I felt worse when I went back out in the heat, strange,, but now I dont know what my body wants,, cold bothers me,, heat kills me,, whatever all this is is just l kiulling me slowly,, oh well,,
Sorry but Waaaah! :( We got Another heat advisory hear in Iowa again. This one is until Thursday.
My AC is getting a real workout. Even though I am on the budget plan, I'll need to sit down when I get the bill. Sigh. ::)
I know, Pisces! We had another heat advisory from Wed.-Fri. last week again. Only 92 today...
This has become unprecedented all over the country. It actually rained almost all afternoon on Saturday and my husband and I enjoyed just sitting on our covered porch watching it come down. (with our little dog on a lap because there was thunder and he is afraid of it).
My younger son lives in eastern Kansas, so even hotter. Thank goodness he works in the dairy dept. at the Walmart; he's a hard worker, but told me he was trying to hang out with the milk and butter all day. ;)
