Title: GREETINGS from The Walking Zombie!
Post by: CAT1962 on July 02, 2011, 11:46:02 AM
Hi, All...been awhile since I have posted...or have I?? I wouldn't know! I started taking the Topamax that my Nuero Rx'd last December..or was in November? Who knows...Anyway. It was for "silent" migraines. Anyway, I know it is off-label rx'd in the UK for weight loss so what the heck, I need to lose about 60 lbs, and I am desperate.

I have been taking it for about a  month now. I am on day 3..or is it 4?...of 100 mgs, which is my max dose. My feet and hands tingle. If only other people could benefit form what I feel, I could make some bucks being a masseuse with my own built-in massagers! If I eat too much in one sitting (I am talking a  normal sized meal ) I become nauseated. It is as if I have had a bariatric procedure...I can eat very small portions..so strange. I guess that's how people lose weight on this stuff. Also, a lack of appetite. I have to watch the hair loss. With SjS, though, my hair was already thinning (just as long as Topamax doesn't cause any hair clump-loss), memory issues, brain fog was already in play, so no real loss there! Well, the ONLY weird thing...today I bought some wine coolers at the grocery store for my mom and the clerk asked me for my birth date..I didn't EXPECT it (I am 48) so I forgot my birthday...right away....HAHA...but again, I didn't expect to be asked...)

School is out. We go back next month, if I can drag myself back. It is getting hard. I think if I can lose this weight, I will have more energy. Anyway, that's my story for the day! How are you all doing??

Glad the medicine seems to be helping.  Some meds for  things have "added benefits or curses" depending.  Glad yours seems to have the benefits.  My dr put me on a med once, don't remember the name, but a side effect of it was loss of appetite.  Well, I'm the last person that should have that - my weight dropped and iron hid the skids. Dr took me off it real quick. I'm the odd one in that I have trouble putting on weight.  I just am not hungry most of the time. Weird I know!

LOVE you got carded!  :D  I wouldn't mind a bit either.  8)

Having to eat smaller meals:  I supposed going out to eat you notice now how BIG the portions and meals are anymore. You get tired of taking doggie bags home or asking for 1/2 portions.

I'm chilling in with the AC as it it hot and humid here in Iowa.  Too hot to mow lawns, etc. Supposed to cool down tomorrow and low 80s on 4th so will be a lot better.

The 80s? Wow...would love some of that. We have and will be in the 100s here. It has been miserable. I can't take the heat anymore.  Isn't that a Sjogren's thing? It's just unbearable for me. My husband's family are just going to groan at me, I know. They think I'm a wimp. I am not even going to his cousin's house for the 4th. They'll tell him to just leave me at home and bring the kids. (I don't like a new member anyway...some nasty trashy daughter-in-law who told me that she loves her new repo job because it's fun to watch the people run out of the house crying when they tow their cars away...)

(Sorry to vent...lol)

Cat,

I think many of us know the "walking zombie" feeling too well.  Certain days I really notice the brain fog.  I had one of those the other day; I just couldn't seem to focus on anything.

I think it's great you got "carded" too. :) That must have made you feel good. Well until you couldn't remember your birth date; I HATE that when that happens.

Our weather has been unusally hot here, too. I'd love to be outside more, but cannot handle it. Our friends invited us to go boating on a lake all day, cookout and camp overnight this weekend. I had to beg off because I knew I would be miserable afterward. I have an understanding husband.  He would've liked to go, but guess he didn't want to see "the aftermath" either!
Take care of yourself,
Melinda
