I know everywhere around the world disasters are happening, and the fires here in Arizona and New Mexico pose less threat to lives and property than the flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc elsewhere. Just wanted to send out a prayer and thanks for the firefighters who are battling the worst fires on record, and in the worst conditions imaginable. It is a little personal for me since, as my name implies, I regard these forests as my home. Fires on 3 sides of me now, three air filters going, and I am safe compared to most. I think I will end there except for a plea that all of you who are celebrating the 4th with fireworks will please be extra careful, and if you live anywhere in this area, DON'T use them. Throw water balloons instead.

Please take care - I'm glad you have air filters. Even if you are not directly in danger from the flames, the smoke and fumes can cause terrible damage to your lungs. Hopefully you will be able to hike those beautiful mountains again soon, keeping the forest company while it heals.
Our prayers are with everyone in the area of these fires, and especially for those working long, hard, dangerous hours to bring the fires under control. Fires are a fact of life in summer out here in the West, but each one is its own awful story.
