Title: Hot or Cold?
Post by: Bucky on May 14, 2011, 07:34:20 AM
Now that we're into Spring here in Central, Illinois and have just come off a cold, snowy winter - I was wondering which of the temperatures - hot or cold - you feel better with?

I would have to say I feel better with the cold weather.  Even if I "feel" cold, I can put more clothes on to warm up.  When I'm hot, I can only take so much off.

The sad thing is I hibernate pretty much with both temperatures.  Too cold to go out, and then it's too hot to go out.  I stay indoors quite a bit.   :(

We've already had two 90 degree days this week alone.  I can only imagine what the summer will be like!   ::)  It's rough when the humidity is high.

Thanks,
Bucky

Hi  :)

I said 'cold' but cold is relative. I don't think I would like the low temperatures that many of you get. 'Temperate' cold suits me but 'mild' is even better. Hot and warm are no longer for me.  :(

Take care - Scottie  :)

Yeah, I'm another one that hates the extreme hot or cold, but like Scottie, I tend to stay indoors now a days (hate the humidity too).

I have to agree with all of you...I don't like any extremes in the weather either...and hate the humidity! I would have to say that cold is better for me though becasue as you say Bucky...you can always add more clothes or blankets....but can only take off so much in the heat (at least without offending anyone or getting arrested!)  :D

Anything below 50F makes it so I can't even open my hands, it hurts so badly.
I'd take the heat over the cold any day! Probably because I'm used to it as I've lived in Texas all my life. :D

Like Unicorn, I prefer the heat.  I'm a Cali Girl and although we have temps in the 20's and highs up to 110, we don't have humidity, thank goodness.  With Raynaud's, it seems like I'm always cold, even if it is hot outside.  For me, I would LOVE to live where it's 80-85 degrees year-round.  Any suggestions?

I can't tolerate either extreme anymore either.

Very cold weather (especially rainy)  makes me ache and hurt more.  Hot weather makes my body/joints feel better but makes me feel ill. And humidity is very hard on me.  My thermostat regulator no longer works!  ;)

Unfortunately I cannot tolerate temperatures above 78 degrees F, so I have to say I feel better in the colder weather.  When It's cold outside I can dress for it and turn my electric mattress heater up at night.  When it's what I call hot (you may consider it moderate), my body shakes and my muscles turn to mush.

Good thing I live in a part of the world that has winter for 6 months of the year! :P

C'mon this can't all be from Sjs, can it?  I too am having trouble with temperature, it feels like my internal regulator doesn't know what to do anymore.  The heat seems to sap me more, but maybe I am only saying that since it is heating up, and in November I will be saying the cold saps me more.

Neither - I feel best when the temp is between  60 & 80 (F).  I ache all over when it's cold and feel woozy when it's hot.  Ironically (because of my dry mouth/eyes/sinuses) I feel better in the heat if it is NOT humid.  Go figure!

With me it is that: wet, warm & cool time. That is usually early Fall and late Spring. It becomes very easy for me to get sinus or throat infection or ear aches then.
I do notice though that I do not seem to tolerate the cold as well as I used to.

wow, good question... hot feels good on my RA and maybe the Fibro... but I've always liked the cold more.  I sit in tubs of hot water to quell the pain from RLS, and I mean "HOT", just a trickle of cold water added in. I can only stand it for about 10 minutes, but it works.  I can't walk on cold floors in my bare feet, tile, concrete, ect... I don't sweat much, but the heat definitely makes my body feel better then cold.  This really bums me out, because now that I think about it, all the places I've always wanted to go to are cold...I may have to change my dreams :-[

Heat seems to quiet muscle and some connective tissue pain. Cold works on nerve pain and helps to reduce swelling.

I like it best with cold and stabile weather.
Living close to the North Atlantic and experiencing the benefits from the Gulf stream from Caribbean, the weather is usually anything but stabile! At least in fall! We have to tie down everything outside some times!

I have a lot of fun finding different stuff in a hedge we have. It is made of tight bushes so once something is blown there by the wind, then it is stuck! And I find it! I've found a lot of clothes, newspapers, plastic bags and lots of toys. An air mattress came flying once, and landed on our roof before it flew into the woods! At least it is entertaining! We live about 600 feet away from the sea, but still I found a small starfish in the garden once too! And seaweed! Oh life gives a lot of surprises and funny situations. :)

Ugh . . . on days like today, where the temperature is 92 degrees out with a heat index of 97, and it is HOT, HOT, HOT . . . . . I'll take the cold any day!!

It is so humid outside - if you're out there for long the sweat is dripping down your face and back.  I know some of you can't sweat any more - believe me, I make up for your lack of sweat!   ::)

It's suppose to be in the 90's at least through Wednesday of this coming week.   :o

When it's so hot out, it makes me feel real lethargic and sleepy.  And, it can make me sick to my stomach.  I just can't handle the heat.

I hope the air conditioning is working at work tonight!

Stay cool everyone.

Bucky

It's the weather something else?  It is snowing about an hour southwest of us right now!  :P

Woke up to 37 degrees F this morning with lots of wind and black clouds, and finally let the furnace run when the house temperature dropped below 63 degrees.

I bet those of you in the heat wave would gladly change places! :D I think I'll stay here, and put on a sweater.

I don't like the extreme cold or heat. But I have to say when the have the Seasons change when it is warm, cool and wet is when I hate it the most.  I seems to get "stuff" a whole lot easier that time of year.  I guess I had to be hot enough or cold enough to kill any bugs that get to me.

I just realized I didn't have a sinus /throat infection at all this winter.  Gosh a first in a loooong time. The sinus flushes are working!
